How does "Spying" come into play. Those "protestors" are in plain sight. What's the difference between a Predator and a Bell helicopter flying above them?

Well, for one thing, the Predator is owned and operated by the military and the helicopter would almost certainly be used by civilian police. Some of us object to using the military on our own citizens exercising their Constitutional rights.

I'm sure if these "protestors" were peaceful and not blocking innocent citizens on the streets, and no looting was occurring, or police cars or cabs being set afire, buildings burned down, observation platforms wouldn't be so plentiful.,

More than five million people participated in protests in the United States on the day of the birthday parade. There were essentially no problems. The events were peaceful. No innocent citizens were blocked. No looting. No police cars set on fire. No cabs set on fire. No buildings burned.

There was no need for aerial surveillance, and no justification whatsoever for employing the military to surveille citizens acting civilly and lawfully. And there's no need for quotation marks required around protestors.

You seem to lump all protestors together and brand them all as violent arsonists, looters, and rioters. I might guest thgat you're basing your viewpoint on the statements of the fellow who famously proclaimed, "They're eating the dogs! They're eating the cats." The same fellow who declared all protestors to be scum.

Too much MSM here. Enjoy your life

MSM is code for fact and reality. They can be difficult to deal with at times.
Boy, you need to change flavors of the liberal kool aid you're drinking.................. Every day there's another msm "reporter" caught up in lies.

There was no need for aerial surveillance,

I would agree with that in the military sense, but from a police perspective, I think there's an argument that it's fair game.

We've seen all kinds of crazy stuff happen at protests over the past few years. Even a peaceful protest, for all we know there's some person ready to veer their car into the crowd. I think drones can be highly adept at spotting danger in this type of environment. That ultimately keeps people safe.

I doubt there's another country in the civilised world where the term mainstream media is used as a pejorative.
Whenever you see that term being used disparagingly, you can tell a lot about the person using it.

Had you actually read the article the OP linked, you would see that the drone(s) in question were operated over Los Angeles protests/riots by DHS, not the military. DHS is a federal law enforcement agency. Similar to the FBI monitoring folks.

I don't think the poster cares. Just another knee jerker

I wasn't aware torching cars, looting and destroying businesses, and assaulting LE are constitutional rights. Thanks for informing me, I'll be getting my incendiary devices and bricks ready for some after work activities.

For the benefit of those with an extremely restricted media input, you'll never hear this on your information source, but no-one supports the activities that have you all excited, and they only happened to a very limited extent in a small area.
But hey .. who wants to let facts get in the way when you want to whip up hysteria.

O

Of course, those things are not Constitutional rights. Sarcasm doesn't become you.

Truth and facts matter. It is undeniable that more than five million people participated in peaceful, patriotic demonstrations last Saturday. There may have been a few instances of criminal behavior, particularly in Los Angeles. You falsely suggest that all demonstrations are violent and criminal.

I'd sincerely appreciate you providing references to the what led you your conclusion that looting, arson, and assaulting police officers was so widespread that using the military to surveille civilians gatherings was required.

Schoolyard name calling is a sure sign that nothing substantive or relevant is available to say.

After reading quite a few reports on what happened in L.A. from sources ranging from Fox, to DHS, to CNN, I concluded that the magnitude of violent and criminal actions in L.A provided no justification for the president to deploy National Guard and Marine Corps troops or to use federal military-style surveillance assets. I'm surprised DOGE hasn't spoken out against the high cost of such theater.

As a FRONT LINE witness to theses "protest" I can assure you all that while yes there is some protesting and there are incidents of criminal activities, these a very few and these acts can most of the time be contributed to Bystanders and not the protesters themselves.
There is one group of protesters that actually have there own security force to make sure crimes are reported to the police.
From what I can see,.. most of America has had a swig of the Media Kool-Aid and you viewers are being used to unknowingly help shift immigration policy.
The government sent the Military to L.A. for really no reason other than publicity.
It may look like L.A. is on fire or that the local police can't do a thing to quell these protest BUT I can assure you it only looks that way on T.V. for a reason and that reason is political. This is all Reality T.V. at its finest.
If you all want too really become frightened and angry come to L.A. and watch the tactics used by the ICE people. Its scary to say the least.
