I am not certain what people use for their wind and weather forecasts in the U.K. But I use the met office aviation service www.metoffice.gov.uk/premium/general aviation
This is a free service once logged in/registered.
Go to the Balloons section enter your nearest location and it gives the winds on the surface and at 500' including gusts. Also gives winds for higher levels.
You will need to enter am or pm and then a table comes up.
I have been using this site for years for hot air ballooning where knowledge of the winds is critical.
Would be interesting if anyone else is using this for drones.
