Apparently our extreme leader (oops dictated esteemed) has backtracked due to realities of international commerce. Hope to be able to purchase Mini5 as soon as possible.

So, all that BS to slow or stop DJI and others from import is null & void ?

and what about the Audit ?

Not DJI or autel they are done. BUT many homebuilds and FPV Drones now have a big loophole and we will still be getting parts (just more expensive and slower to get.)

The title of this post is misleading. The FCC did not roll back the ban on licensing new drones from foreign countries. The FCC had previously exempted a small list of drone vendors. The article linked by the OP referred to the Commerce Department, not the FCC.

The linked article is about US Dept of Commerce which had a proposal to ban the import of Chinese made drones but they just withdrew that proposal. This is completely independent of the FCC covered list which is still intact.

We dodged a major bullet with this blanket ban from the Commerce department.

Listen to one interesting viewpoint on the situational analysis regarding the proposal:

I'm confused now. No drone ban from China now?
No, there is not not a ban on Chinese drones. Clear now?

It's a confusing situation and there's incomplete information, but all these headlines saying there's no ban on Chinese drones are misleading at best and attention-getting sensationalism at worst.

From what I understand, @Occams Razor summed things up accurately in post #9.

expecting the current federal government to have a coherent policy that is consistent across departments is like expecting a horse to play a violin or a whale to use AI to search for plankton.

When you see all latest drones available on US DJI website, is only when we'll know.

“I know what you mean”, said Chesnut as she practised for tonight’s performance of ‘Carnival of the Animals’.

I think I’ll celebrate by buying another Drone!

...
(joking, too many batteries now).
