Use of c1 to set waypoints

So, i have run a few waypoint missions, no problem. I set the points by touching the screen to record them and as i do, it it records the number set as i go. However, when i try to use the c1 button, it doesn't seem to count them and i am unsure they are even being recorded?? I donr want to take the chance so i keep using the touch screen instead. The c1 button would be much handier though...??

of the top of my head the buttons are configurable in the app menu and you may have to set it to use it
