Apologies to my Cornish viewers, but my latest clip is from a trip to Valley Of Rocks, Lynton, to film there for the first time in 5 years.

It's a stunning piece of coastline on the North Devon coast, with a naturally formed valley of jagged geography, made all the more beautiful by an on fire sky at sunset.

I hope you enjoy the short film.

Nice!

So pretty. Its been decades since I visited Devon. The last time was during Easter 1995 when my two kids and decided to sail our 36' motor yacht from Port Solent, Portsmouth to Torquay. That was quite an adventure; on our return journey, we faced extreme rough weather sailing across Lyme Bay, it was like 5 1/2hrs in a washing machine; we survived the ordeal.

Thanks for letting us see what you saw! Awesome vid, Mr. C! Loved the opening scene revealing the setting sun.

Thank you for the kind words. Sounds like a horrible journey you had, but glad you survived. Hopefully my video didn’t bring back too many bad sailing memories. Merry Christmas from the uk

Not quite; it was a great learning experience and helped me become a better and confident sailor, helped prepare me to face anything at sea. I subsequently sailed several times. solo, and with my kids to Cherbourg, Guernsey, Jersey, and further south to France. In 1997 I migrated to the USA and sold the boat end of that year.

Amazing place, beautiful flight. Makes me want to get back with a drone. Hiked there last summer and really enjoyed it.
Thanks for sharing!

Wow, that opening scene was pin sharp on my laptop 4K screen, amazing detail. What are you flying to get that? How did you get such good detail in the shadow of those dark grey rocks with the sun in the background as you flew backwards? Great exposure. Thanks for posting that, a pleasure to watch.

Thank you so much for the kind words and high praise. The whole video is shot with the Air3S, apart from the mid section FPV which is the Avata2. Both drones had polarising filters on at all times. I have to admit that both drones’ camera settings were set to auto. I use Davinci Resolve for the editing and a bit of colour grading, mainly adjusting detail for sharpness, then contrast and shadow and white balance for the lighting, and tint mainly for the earlier clips to try and get the lighting more consistent as the sun went down in the later clips. Hope that helps. I’m no expert though and just play around until I’m happy how things look. I must say though that the Air3S has really impressed me since I upgraded to it earlier this year.

Thank you for the response. I have a Mavic 2 Pro but have been thinking about the Air3S or the new Mini 5 Pro and I just don't know which would be the better choice. Appreciate the details on your filming.

I can't talk for the Mini's. I have an old Mini 2 for the rare times I fly near to uninvolved people, but as most of my clips are coastal and over sea, the extra weight of the Air3S makes it much better in the wind. And from 1st January, I'll use the Mini even less as here in the UK, our rules for flight are changing, which means that where an A2CofC qualification is held (which I do), I'll be legally able to fly my Air3S within 5 meters of uninvolved people when using slow mode. I highly reccommend the Air3S

I was never interested in the Mini range, until they brought out the new 5 Pro. Not having been able to see or fly either, I shall wait until I have had the opportunity, before making a choice. Of course, I do appreciate the weight of the 3S because I know the benefit of the Mavic 2 Pro's weight, in windy conditions. Thanks for your comments.

I have been very impressed with the Mini 5 Pro. The photos are maybe slightly better than my M2 Pro. I am still getting used to it and I haven’t flown it too much given that winter has dropped the hammer here. I feel a little silly given AK Drone flies in -40F, but I am looking forward to working the Mini 5 a lot harder on our “warmer” winter days.
So far, I am very impressed with it.
