I read some fellow member reply here:

And it makes a lot of sense, I was just wondering the two cameras at the bottom of the air 3s which help land precisely on a PATTERNED surface, do they work well even outdoors with gps present? And how to make sure they are working for precise landing (lets say on a helidpad) when outdoors and landing on a relatively unstable surface such as a boat ? And specific landing instructions or height to land precisely on a helipad On a boat ?

Finally, at what height they stop working to stabilize the drone when in air and no GPS present ? (Indoors) for air 3s ?...

Thanks,

Yes, they work just fine outdoors with GPS ... which is exactly the way most drone flying is done.

They would always be working unless your drone has had a very rare hardware failure.
But if you are wanting to land on a helipad at sea, do you really need precision landing anyway?

Like this?

Why not just bring the drone down to just a couple of feet above the deck and pull the left stick down?
But you would want the vessel to be still or moving quite slowly.
Hand catching might be a better idea, but if it's your first time and the boat is moving, it's going to be harder than on land.

Here's another thread for you to read.
mavicpilots.com/threads/yes-landing-protection-can-be-disabled-but.134162/

That thread is four pages long and includes some demonstration videos. I learned a lot of new things during that discussion, including a bunch of stuff that I was totally wrong about, but know better now.

It's worth a read and should help answer most of your questions.
