Watch out DJI.....

Competition can only be a good thing. DJI have done well to continue product evolution without much pushing so a few more players will be good.

Of course they have a massive head start in flight control algorithms which is a good chunk of the battle but others will catch them and then we’ll have real choice.

Like with camera systems there is no best - just user preferences and it would be nice to have 3 or 4 manufacturers in the top tier.

It looks cool, but that stops there. It's MASSIVE and expensive for what it does. That size and flight time would be OK if it had a high quality interchangeable lens MFT camera, not a bog standard small sensor 60Mbps thing.
Apparently they plan on offering other cameras, will need that before it's even worth considering.

It's somewhat Inspire-like while not matching any spec of it... and 4 years late.

Competition mounting...Some very interesting features on this bird.
DJI watch out ??
Read those specs again.
This is competing with the old Phantom 3 standard (and losing).

Weight (including battery and propellers) 2.36 kg (5.2 pounds)
Too bad for those countries having favourable rules for sub2kg drones.

Max Descent Speed 2 m/s (6.561 ft/s) S l o w

Max Flight Time Approx. 20 minutes - ~15 mins in real flight conditions?

Camera
CMOS Sensor Sony 1/2.3" CMOS, Effective pixels:12.4 M
12MP, fixed focus, no aperture

Controller
Crummy fixed screen
Max Transmission Distance
1 km (3281 ft), FCC Compliant
Which means 500 metres in typical conditions

It's just another in a long line of poor copies.
Other companies are just following DJI but one or more generations behind.
DJI are the only innovators in the field.

given time, even dji will fall to the back burner.

but he ha$ it made, and his overloards are getting reams of info on America, and other countries.
pending what the laws are like in 10-20 years. all of the drones out today will just be junk. maybe one or two might make it into a museum.

but the new "improved" drones will be something. if you can afford to own one.

DJI are the only innovators in the field.
The only innovators or the only ones seeming to incorporate the smarts from the likes of Intel/movidius and the other manufacturers that develop and supply the clever bits.

It makes no sense why other manufacturers aren’t getting close to them other than funding issues.

I will say that this one really caught my attention and have a sweet low price: FIMI X8 SE

Pretty low when a company has no originality, just a basic copying of the DJI website and the DJI drones, all substandard- but a copycat product. Instead of forging new ground in design etc. these people are just rats trading on DJI’s success. I wouldn’t buy from them even if their product was half the price! This isn’t flattery, it’s just dirty dealing preying on the unknowledgeable customer. Pretty low-
