I agree, Water Strider concept seems to be more studied.

The idea is good. It just needs more balls. Surround the Mavic with about 20 nerf balls and it will be protected from both crashing and sinking in the water.

Matter of fact, do that with all of our stuff- cars, bikes, our bodies, etc. Perfect safety at all times.
