Hey all :)

I got my Air3s over the weekend (after having a Flip, swapping for a Mini 4 Pro then settling on the Air3s - normally I research a lot !).

Took it for a couple of flights to polish up my skills, but waypoints has got me stumped.

I want to:
- Have a POI for it to focus on
- Create 2-3 waypoints that sweep left to right and rise a bit towards the end

My question is - for POI's (in this case it was a cricket pitch at an oval for my point of reference) - do you have to actually fly over the top of it and point the camera down ? When I hovered it looking at it from an angle with the gimbal tilted slightly, when it went to fly, it flew the course in facing POI for both waypoints, POI was linked to those waypoints, but the camera/orientation was completely the other way and at 0 degrees.

Also :
- Do the waypoints upload to the cloud now ? I saw someone mention a firmware update that did that.
- Can you create a mission on Litchi and import it to the drone ? Is that done via uploading with the microSD in the controller ?

Greetings from Birmingham Alabama USA, welcome to the forum! We look forward to hearing from you!

You do not have to fly to create a mission. You can create a mission by placing waypoints and POIs on a map, then save the mission so that it can be flown later.

Yes, if you are not in the USA, your missions will sync with the "cloud" so that they are available on other devices running DJI Fly (using the same login credentials). This was enabled in a recent DJI Fly update, not a firmware update.

Yes, you can. The Air 3 is not directly supported because DJI has not added support for it in their MSDK. However, you can convert a Litchi mission into a DJI mission and then upload the converted mission to the device running DJI Fly. The converter and instructions can be found here:

Question: Can negative altitudes be successfully programmed for any waypoints, when flying from higher elevation over lower terrain?

I do not own a DJI Fly drone with waypoints so keep that in mind when reading my answer...

From what others have written, I have concluded that you cannot pre-program a DJI Fly waypoint mission with negative height values using DJI Fly. The height slider on the screen will only go down to zero. However, if you use DJI Fly to create a waypoint mission by flying the drone to various locations and saving those locations as waypoints, you can have negative values for heights.

Litchi does allow one to create a waypoint mission in their Mission Hub with negative values for height. Such a waypoint mission can be successfully converted to a DJI waypoint mission.

Thank you! That's two very encouraging workarounds to what I thought was an insurmountable problem!
