Don't worry. You won't. Just take your first flights easy, out in open field, move slowly around. Remember, if you get confused, just let the sticks go and it will stop. At first, keep it pointed away from you 'cause when it faces you, your right is its left. THAT can be confusing.

I also never flew a drone until 2 months ago. I spent 6 months watching everything I could, which features, which brand name, on and on. At that time my two choices were a DJI Mavic Air or Autel Robotics EVO. I knew both DJI and Autel would be coming out with new drones this year so I thought it would be best just to wait and see. When they came out I liked some of the things DJI had and some of the things Autel had. So for me I went with DJI, just seemed the Mavic Air 2 was a much more robust drone. Camera with both were fantastic but I did like the side sensors Autel had. And at double the price the Autel was in my opion not worth the extra cost in any manner. The Autel is not double the value or quality of DJI.
Anyway, got off topic there. Just put your drone in Tripod mode and take your time. Learn how to go forward, backwards, left and right, up and down and take your sweet time. You are not in a race with anyone and the only person you need to impress is yourself. After two months I still practice just basic flying maneuvers and yes it is not exciting, not at all. But what I learn and still learn is how my brain, my eyes, my input with my fingers relate to the drones movement. No hard inputs with the controls but small little movement with the sticks. Smooth, intentional, planed and you'll do fine. In time try different movements as your skill level increases and I can guarantee you will do fine and enjoy every minute flying.

Your first flight should be an inspection flight of your Air 2:
Warning! : Magnetic Interference is your worst enemy- If you get any shut down and move.

Notice how long it takes for your Home Point to be recorded , Each place will be different.
Use the Auto take off - Hover above about 4 ft for the remainder of the entire battery.
Record a few minutes something to check your horizon, Take a picture using one of each of the series offered Pano ect.
Let the battery run down , watch how you get the warnings that the battery is low.
Watch the Lights blink to see the different changes that take place to warn you of a low battery.
Watch how the Drone moves to take the different types of pictures and how wind will effect that.
Notice that you can cancel the warning to land , but how fast it comes back to have to cancel again.
If the beeping from the sensors get to much just switch it to sport mode at any time.

Inspection flights should be on every new pilots list as boring as it might be it will save you from panic on your first flight and
as far as the Mini goes keep it in the box.

Your second flight should be RTH practice , another facet where many new pilots panic and you will
be way ahead of the curve of new pilots.

They already gave me tracking number so I think it was already shipped. Its shipped by DHL so hopefully not gonna take forever.

Expanding on what Phantomrain said... learn orientation without looking at your screen.

FOR EXAMPLE: Today I was long distance flying (range testing) and was about 3500 feet when I lost my first bar of signal. I started coming back, and had full control, flying backwards as to have as little directional adjustments as possible but still be close to launch location. Well, when I was getting close I looked at my screen, only to see it was blank. (It overheated, and wasn't actually off, but it WAS too dark to see) So I had to stop the drone about 1100 feet away......

So I'm looking at the drone, it looks like it's facing me, and when I command forward motion it seems like its getting closer, but maybe not. Okay, stop again, check screen... Screen useless. I have to orient myself with the drone, which is just a shadow in the sky, no lights visible. Command Yaw movement and it looks like its getting bigger, so turn 90 degrees (to the best of my ability) and try again with Forward movement stick input. Okay now it's definitely getting smaller, so pull back on that same stick until you can see the gimbal. (or whatever you want, but I find the gimbal to be the first thing I see that gives me a definite direction.)

I've flown north of 500 hours, and still practice flying without a screen when I can. Like when I am flying somewhere I've been before, I'll fly and use the record button on the remote, but never look at the screen, get home, check out what I got, and where I was definitely not right. I'm just getting the hang of gimbal tilt with no screen, by setting my Fn button to recenter gimbal, knowing what flight mode I'm in, and counting seconds.






Lastly, pretend sport mode doesn't exist for now. You'll thank me (us) later.

Learned to fly for almost a year with my Spark before upgrading to a zoom. Couldn't bring myself to sell ol' Sparky....we've been through too much together. Still take her out once in a while for exercise. I also learned that when there is an issue with one...crash, warranty, loss....whatever, it's nice to have a backup. Went through serious withdrawals when I had to send her to Texas for a warranty issue. Not to mention the mini is unique in that it does not require a licensed pilot or registration. There will be times where it is more convenient to have a REALLY light, compact drone to haul around. But most of all...it's the least expensive option with a good basket of features that's great to learn with. Crashing either gonna hurt, but losing your Air is REALLY gonna hurt. Get Refresh. .

I bought my MM first and then the MA2 haven't regretted either purchase. One thing to note is after a flight you'll want to observe a cool down period for the battery as well as the drone. I switch from one drone to the other to allow one to cool. Also fly the MA2 in windy weather, not so much the MM. I also learned on the MM first as stated. The MA2 is a beast compared to the MM so be very careful the controls are much more sensitive because of the power. Even descending is much faster with the latter. I thought I'd sell my MM, not now though. Also a friend of mine bought a MA2 and crashed it and now he is grounded for at least a month waiting on a estimate and repair. Good to have a backup. I also got refresh just because of the ? birds, LOL. Really watch out for THE BIRDS!
