Good read on what has happened, is happening, and/or might happen should the FCC and eBay treat DJI drones the same way as other products that have come under FCC scrutiny.

EBAY NOW FLAGGING LISTINGS FOR FCC BANNED SECURITY CAMERAS DUE TO COMPLIANCE ISSUES

That would be unfortunate and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it happens.

If it happens, I expect those high volume South Korean sellers aren't going to walk way from all those sales. There will be other ways to buy if eBay goes this route.

Their commodity shipping labels don't state DJI drones anyway! They are shipping electric Skillset drills! We'll just have to search eBay under the new DJI code words! LOL!

If DJI goes on the entities list then Ebay wont allow you to sell them on their site. The rules been around for some time.

Maybe not openly, but if they use code words instead, the S. Koreans will still find a way. They are very resourceful!

The FCC has no authority to ban sales of anything including drones. You can buy them but they have the authority to ban you from using them.

This may be true, but if eBay has a system in place to block brands on the covered list then it'll get more difficult to purchase them.

Sorry Ranger but every electronics manufacturer realizes you have to pay homage to the FCC gods before you can open the spigot in America. It's been that way for decades. FCC overloads sales calling it "marketing."

I would even go so far as to say the FCC has nearly unlimited powers under this administration. Who's going to defy them?

If you haven't already, watch this FCC video at the 20min mark to understand their thoughts where they are heading:

That is completely false.

New drones from DJI would get banned from two things under the purview of the FCC
  • The FCC requires devices that emit radiofrequency (RF) energy to be authorized before they can be imported, marketed, or sold in the U.S.. This ensures they don't cause harmful interference to other equipment or present health risks.
  • The FCC prohibits the authorization and marketing of equipment that poses a national security risk, specifically on the "Covered List" of equipment that the FCC has identified as untrustworthy, which will be DJI in about a month.
If the FCC decides to revoke existing certifications, those drones would be banned from sale as well/
