Hello to my drone friends and to all procrastinators like myself!!
Like the topic says, I am trying to become a drone owner and get off the procrastinating round-about.
I've read so many threads about stay away from purchasing from DJI, I'm usually an Amazon user but haven't seen to many who've purchased from there.

I, like you, do not like to have hassles if the product I purchased is defective and need help.
I'm would like to see where others have purchased from here is the USA. I'm looking to purchase the Air 2, I believe this would serve me best, which is recreational usage. I may go after part 107 just for the challenge,

Thank you for helping me figure this out.

Hello Hog,
I purchased through B&H photo. I did have a question regarding car refresh after I bought the drone and their customer service was verry good. If something was defective i would have had to do the shipping thing. If you bought at a local best by i imagine you could just bring it back. I bought the drone before joining this forum and they have vendors here who i believe repair and sell drones. I am sure others will chime in.

We are company located out of Fort Meyers, FL. We have done a lot of business on here and seem to have a pretty solid reputation among the pilots here. If you would like, shoot us a message and we would be glad to help you into a Mavic Air 2 and answer any questions you have.

Thanks,
FDS Team

Hi and thanks for your reply, I purchase from B&H all the time for my photography equipment and they are a great company. I've never had a problem with them when I had a problem with a lens. Good recommendation. Thank you

I know that this doesn't help you, being in the USA.
When I ordered mine recently, in Canada, the name Dr.drone popped up several times while i was researching drones. So when it came time to buy, I used them.
It was a great place to deal with, and I would again if I ever upgrade to a bigger drone.

Order from DJI if you want to risk a delay. Order from reputable companies if you want it within a few days...you still get full warranty. Like BB, B&H, and a host of small companies such as Drone-works. I do not understand why anyone would order directly from DJI. You are not getting anything extra or special...just more of a delay.

The main benefit from ordering directly from DJI in my experience (Osmo Pocket, Osmo Action camera) there was no sales tax. In my state of Florida, USA, there is a 6% sales tax, so 6% of $1599.00 =$95.94 saved.

B&H is not only an excellent company with a great return policy, they offer a credit card called payboo that (when you charge with it) will pay your sales tax. I just used it to buy an Air 2 from within California and saved $83 in sales tax. Nice bonus.

Good point. Some vendors do not charge the tax. For example, Drone-Works does not charge for out of state orders. However, as we all know you are supposed to claim this at tax time. : )

Hello and thanks for the reply,

I'm split between the Air 2 and MPP, I really need to dig in and get all the info I can find between the two side by side. I was trying to find on youtube someone who is comparing both together but that's not around. I am just getting around to comparing these two because I was split between the mini and air 2 but don't like all the negative the mini is receiving.

I added the MPP to the mix with the air 2 because I like the quieter sound, I believe it has better avoidance but can't be positive until I compare them now.

I will probably be contacting you sometime in the future, and again thanks for the reply!!

Mike

Check out the approved vendors on this site (Florida Drone Supply, DJI Drone Service, etc)
That is where you will find the best deal.

Thanks for the reply and will do!

Hi and thanks for the reply,

I've been reading all about the delay from DJI, they must get so many orders from around the world plus the delay because of the virus. I'm sure it's backing them up, I'm not sure we can hold them totally to blame for delays.

I can certainly feel the anguish of those that have placed orders from vendors and have been hit with delays.

I agree that you are not getting anything special ordering from DJI, but some people feel more comfortable ordering from the manufacture. I am not one of those :)

Thanks
Mike

Hello. I see you mentioned the name of Dr Drone. I too am a Canadian living in the province of Ontario. I wasn't really sure where to make my first purchase of a DJI Drone. How is Dr Drone for technical support or do they offer any type of support at all? Would you also recommend any other Canadian retailers . Any further comments. Thanks

Lots of good ideas here. I bought my first Mavic from Drone Nerds in Florida. No tax, no shipping and great support. I believe they have a Service Department, but not sure. Highly recommended. Having said that, I recently purchased 5K worth of Sony Camera gear from B&H in NY. No tax (with free PayBoo card) No shipping and orders ship via 2-Day most of the time. Excellent service. And no! I don't feel bad for depriving the state of California many of my $$. CA has been ripping me off most of my life.

Hello. It is me again. I sawy our last email sent to me and you mentioned B and H Photo in N Y. I understand that you don't pay any shipping or sales tax but what about custom fees at the border. Also does the carrier have any brokerage fees. Then there is the currency exchange. In the end is it still cheaper than if I purchased in Canada. I am looking at the Mavic Air Fly more package with the smart controller. The Canadian price is $1889 plus taxes with no shipping charges. I guess maybe I should phone this dealer ship in NY and have a chat with them. Any further comments. Thanks Bob
