With launch just mere weeks away, who's ready to hit that "buy now" button? I've never crashed a DJI drone, but the price tag would certainly induce a whole new level to puckered flying. Insurance would be a must. I welcome any improvements in drone and camera technology, but as you can see below in my collection the only Mavic Pro I own is the first one. The Mavic Pro line has come a long way since 2016 and so has its price. I remember paying $1400 for the combo including care refresh.

I want to see one BUT at a predicted price of over 5,000 U.S. ( quoted from my DJI salesperson.) I wont be buying one. I will Probably get a cheap 3 from the Ebay sell off battles.

Not me. I’m having too much fun flying my AIR 3S. I’ve put my “buy now” button away in my desk drawer for a good time…maybe forever. Also, as much as you anticipate availability, I expect to see another tsunami of posts on this forum regarding delivery of the Mavic 4 Pro. Depending on what country you live in, delivery could be one day or take a spin on the wheel and hope it makes it to your destination at all or at least before the Mavic 5 Pro comes out 😂

The truth is, the government (my wife) said, “Don’t even think of looking at buying a Mavic Pro or else”😅. I don’t want to find out “what else”.

Anyhow, good luck in your future drone acquisition…I hope they throw in Care Refresh ✅

🇨🇦👍

I will buy one but not this year; maybe next year. I really enjoy watching the reviews, hearing feedback about the experiences, and waiting for the deals. My Mavic 3 Pro is still in good shape and I have no plans to sell it.

I also like to wait to make sure I know what I'm getting. I would prefer to get the RC Pro2 but if it's not available on day 1 or there is no combo kit which includes RC Pro 2 then it makes no sense for me to buy a kit and then buy the RC Pro 2 later. Kinda sucks to realize 90 days after launch a kit hit the market and the RC Pro 2 is greatly discounted in that kit.

Care Refresh is a must for me and it's going to be insanely expensive; probably $250 for the first year. Maybe there's a sale one day where they give away Care Refresh for free.

wut?....$5000?....yikes!

that's about the same price for a Matrice 4E which includes an RC Plus 2 (and O4 transmission), a solid case, and all of those Enterprise app features

as far as I know, The Matrice has the same camera configuration as the Mavic 3 Pro in regards to the 4/3 CMOS and 3X telephoto. But the long telephoto on the Matrice has a 0.66" CMOS vs 0.5" on the Mavic 3. Maybe I have that backwards

so, the Mavic 4 would really need to upgrade the camera(s) significantly to make it a better option than the Matrice 4E

and by the way, either way, I'm not inclined to pay $5000 for a drone when I'm happy with my Mavic 3 and my Mini 3 Pro

Rumor says $2800 for the base package and closer to $5000 for a fly more combo that may consist of a smart controller. Potential tariffs (if any) are likely not involved in this calculation.

I am quoting a Combo price such as Fly more with the yet as to be announced new pro controller. I would think 3500 for the base model (simple controller and 1 Battery). these are all guessing.

At age 86, I only buy green bananas, and not more than 3 at a time, but I will enjoy the back and forth banter after the release.

Rumors posted yesterday by DroneXL says $2,250 for the base package and $3,200 for Fly More, both include new controller with 7" touch flip screen. Will be interesting to see what really happens.

It's also rumored to have an electronic ND system so no need for filters. That will be intriguing...

Dale, you are a very young and well traveled 86. Treat yourself to at least 5 bananas!!

Here is a recent article with specs and package pricing.

so

* the main camera in the Mavic Pro 3 was 24mm. The one in the Mavic 4 is 28mm with a "larger" sensor.

* DJI will still force you to buy the DJI RC2....unless you upgrade to the RC Pro 2 for a $4400 sticker price. Personally, I'd much rather use my Tripltek (1200 nits) with an RC-N2 than the tiny RC 2 with it's measly 700 nits. So, if I was tempted by the Mavic 4, I'd wait until I could buy the drone W/O the RC 2

* I didn't see any info on if Mavic 3 batteries will be compatible with the Mavic 4. That's a pretty big issue

I have a Feelworld FW279 monitor, they have 2200 NITs. It is an older model and I know they have newer models however, I have enjoyed this one so never looked into them.

Several commenters across the rumor mill have noted the batteries are incompatible which is super unfortunate because they are so expensive. If we expect to get nearly an hour flight time, I think we have to go with different (newer) batteries.

IIRC, there are a couple of tablets that generate 2600 nits. They sell in the $400-600 price range. Reportedly the screens can get pretty hot. And the batteries are smaller than the Tripltek. The Tripltek is pretty obviously a higher quality device; really sturdy. And an 8 inch screen instead of a 7 inch screen

Tripltek service & warranty is very good. Not sure I'd trust these other tablets

thanks for info

yeah, that's too bad. I have a Mavic 3 and 4 batteries. I could get by with 3 batteries, but 4 is a sweet spot as far as recharging when camping.

I'll be curious at the price of extra batteries for this drone. The difference between the drone + Battery + RC2 and the drone combo is $950. That probably indicates that at least initially, those batteries will be expensive. Over $300?

***********************************************************************************************

I'm extremely happy with my Mavic 3. Enough so that I never considered upgrading to the Mavic 3 Pro when it came out. I rarely use the 7X telephoto; so having a 3X and 7X camera wasn't persuasive. I rarely take photos...just video. If I want a photo, I just frame-grab off the video

anyway, I find myself comparing this Mavic 4 combo with the Matrice 4E. They are both really expensive toys, IMO, but If you're crazy enough and can hide the cost from your spouse.....

* the Mavic 4 combo price is (according to that article) $4400. I'm assuming 3 batteries
* at Adorama, the Matrice 4E price, plus 2 extra batteries is $5400

--> so, starting out the Matrice 4E costs a thousand dollars more....BUT...!

* Matrice 4E comes with DJI Care Enterprise Plus for a year
* unless DJI breaks tradition, the care refresh for the Mavic 4 will be an additional cost

--> pretty big advantage for the 4E

* Matrice 4E comes with the RC Plus Enterprise. A 7" screen generating 1400 nits
* Mavic 4 (combo) comes with the RC Pro 2. A 5.5" screen generating 1000 nits

--> another significant advantage for the 4E; especially considering some of the app feature that come with the enterprise models

* Mavic 4 has a 28mm main camera with a 'slightly' larger sensor
* Matrice 4E main camera is 24mm with a 4/3 cmos

--> this might be an advantage for the Mavic 4 depending on the sensor I'm not sure how significant it is but maybe the photographers here can chime in. The two tele-cameras on both models appear about the same

* the Matrice 4E camera package comes with a laser range finder

--> I'm not sure how significant an advantage this is for the 4E. I've always wanted a method for accurately determining AGL altitude. This might be a nice solution

* the Matrice 4E comes with a shock-proof hard carry case

if the Mavic 4 doesn't come with a hard case, and that seems likely, this is a big advantage for the 4E as the case alone costs around $350

to summarize (with some assumptions):

* the Mavic 4 has a little larger main camera with a slightly larger sensor and costs $1000 less
* the added $1000 cost for the Matrice 4E gives you a full year of Care Enterprise Plus protection; a significantly bigger and brighter RC; enterprise feature in the app/RC; a laser range finder; and a hard case

I see some pretty decent value in that extra $1000. Is it worth it? Maybe....if I was inclined to spend another $5000 on a drone...which I'm not at this point
