Several commenters across the rumor mill have noted the batteries are incompatible which is super unfortunate because they are so expensive. If we expect to get nearly an hour flight time, I think we have to go with different (newer) batteries.
thanks for info
yeah, that's too bad. I have a
Mavic 3 and 4 batteries. I could get by with 3 batteries, but 4 is a sweet spot as far as recharging when camping.
I'll be curious at the price of extra batteries for this drone. The difference between the drone + Battery + RC2 and the drone combo is $950. That probably indicates that at least initially, those batteries will be expensive. Over $300?

I'm extremely happy with my
Mavic 3. Enough so that I never considered upgrading to the
Mavic 3 Pro when it came out. I rarely use the 7X telephoto; so having a 3X and 7X camera wasn't persuasive. I rarely take photos...just video. If I want a photo, I just frame-grab off the video
anyway, I find myself comparing this Mavic 4 combo with the Matrice 4E. They are both really expensive toys, IMO, but If you're crazy enough and can hide the cost from your spouse.....
* the Mavic 4 combo price is (according to that article) $4400. I'm assuming 3 batteries
* at Adorama, the Matrice 4E price, plus 2 extra batteries is $5400
--> so, starting out the Matrice 4E costs a thousand dollars more....BUT...!
* Matrice 4E comes with DJI Care Enterprise Plus for a year
* unless DJI breaks tradition, the care refresh for the Mavic 4 will be an additional cost
--> pretty big advantage for the 4E
* Matrice 4E comes with the RC Plus Enterprise. A 7" screen generating 1400 nits
* Mavic 4 (combo) comes with the RC Pro 2. A 5.5" screen generating 1000 nits
--> another significant advantage for the 4E; especially considering some of the app feature that come with the enterprise models
* Mavic 4 has a 28mm main camera with a 'slightly' larger sensor
* Matrice 4E main camera is 24mm with a 4/3 cmos
--> this might be an advantage for the Mavic 4 depending on the sensor I'm not sure how significant it is but maybe the photographers here can chime in. The two tele-cameras on both models appear about the same
* the Matrice 4E camera package comes with a laser range finder
--> I'm not sure how significant an advantage this is for the 4E. I've always wanted a method for accurately determining AGL altitude. This might be a nice solution
* the Matrice 4E comes with a shock-proof hard carry case
if the Mavic 4 doesn't come with a hard case, and that seems likely, this is a big advantage for the 4E as the case alone costs around $350
to summarize (
with some assumptions):
* the Mavic 4 has a little larger main camera with a slightly larger sensor and costs $1000 less
* the added $1000 cost for the Matrice 4E gives you a full year of Care Enterprise Plus protection; a significantly bigger and brighter RC; enterprise feature in the app/RC; a laser range finder; and a hard case
I see some pretty decent value in that extra $1000. Is it worth it? Maybe....if I was inclined to spend another $5000 on a drone...which I'm not at this point
