Why are Facebook uploads low-res ?

I've only uploaded two videos directly to FB rather than using Youtube. The results are pretty awful.

Any obvious 'stupid' hints ? The original is crystal clear.

I don't think there's any way around that with Facebook/Instagram. What someone else suggested to me was, put my pictures up on Facebook/Instagram, then a link to my Youtube video.

Always upload to YouTube and post a link from there.
