Why is there so much interest in Shadow Hawk Drones?

Christ! Is anyone not going to call this one out? It's a blatant DJI rip-off leveraging a hybrid of 5 year old Mavic/Mini tech and touting it as 'new'. Since when has blatant and visibly obvious copyright theft been classed as 'innovation'?

'The Droning Company' - You should be ashamed of yourself for posting this.

I've been reading sniping complaints of Chinese companies stealing original 'Western innovations' for years now, so why is it suddenly kosher to list this tat (derivative rubbish) as a viable alternative to a genuinely innovative and original company's product line?

At least the previous comments make me feel like I didn't overreact when I first read the article.

The Droning Company, I just ask, Why post this? You have always been a reliable source for solid drone news.

I would just tell someone if they want to get into drones at a cheap entry point to get a Mini 4K and rock solid DJI reliability and innovation.

I thought this was an article describing why people are beginning to turn their attention away from expensive drones like the DJI in favor of this cheap stuff. I know where this is going. After the ban, the idiots will claim these are DJI drones under cloak and dagger trying to get around the US ban (like the skydiver skyrover). That's the shtick these days. They'll raise the price a bit so you believe it's competitive and these drones will fly off the shelf. We did this to ourselves, this is what happens when you don't "police" your own community. My earlier post was sarcasm. IMO

Agree 100%.

Don't know about you, but I was looking at this kind of cheap crap being advertized in Amazon's bargain basement listings five years ago.

The only reason why DJI has ended up being the company dominating the marketplace is that it is a company that had the genuine ability to innovate and develop within reasonable price limits... because it is constantly innovating and developing.

The 'alternative product' might be made in a country other than China, but it's still a fact that it's retro tech touted as a current alternative, qualified by a conveniently low price tag to attract interest.

What does that say about the people this kind of thing is aimed at?

Why has The Droning Company gone "turtle" on this thread other than liking the criticisms?

The Shadow Hawk only gets worse after visiting the website.

Life after DJI and Autel is going to be rough, drone wise.

$99. each

To each his own.

Nothing new here. Ever since Apple's engineers visited PARC, well..."theft" is pretty common.

That's what bothers me if both DJI and Autel ultimately decide to hang it up in regards to the USA market.
But then again, there's always the Black Market

I have to concur... This damaged The Droning Company's reputation and credibility with me quite a bit.

First, it DOESN'T have a 3-axis gimbal. And how exciting to see "Altitude Hold" as a feature! IIRC the OA claims are bogus too, the two "eyes" on the front are lights, not cameras.

I could go on. This drone has been around for years as a mendacious scam. There was a video ad a few years ago with the exact same drone with a different name showing it as some incredible high-tech military tool.

I hope TDC was duped (how?), and didn't publish this dreck knowingly. They'd be wise to publish a retraction and an apology. Reputations are hard to get back.
