Why would the remote have a higher minimum operating temperature than the AC?

For the M2P/Z the minimum AC temp is 14 degrees Fahrenheit, while the remote is 32.

Characteristics of the battery that is being used. Or the components within the Remote Controller have specifications that have a minimum temperature at which they will function properly.

Probably becasue due to high power draw the aircraft heats itself up much more.

One would think it would be the other way around. At 14°f, the aircraft is sucking freezing cold air in through the intake. The thing to remember here is that the M2's fan only comes on at a very low speed when you power it on. It's just enough to cool the components. The core board gets so hot so quickly that the factory must have determined it will counter any temperatures above 0°f.

The controller is another story. It has a display. Not sure if displays freeze up, but Im sure it's no a coincidence that 32° is freezing and thats what the controller is rated for. Thats my thought as to why it's not able to tolerate the cold better than the drone.

Just another thought. If you are flying in the freezing cold, remember that your device might not work very well below freezing. The drone will be the least of your problems if your display goes out. A member had posted a controller glove up here today, and that might help keep your device and controller safe when the temps drop, plus it will keep your hands warm.

As has been said the battery in the Mavic will heat faster in use due to the significantly higher current draw.

Another issue might be related to the display performance- a lot of LCD's don't function properly below 0 degC.

Yeah, I think the display is probably a big factor. I plan on snapping some sunrise pics later this morning. Temps are supposed to be 10 to 15 degrees, so we'll see what happens. I won't be out very long though.
