Will DJI end the world as we know it with their latest Firmware?

Let's all sign up for a "DJI DON'T' campaign !! We invested in DJI and that should count !

I would rather face an assault charge that to have our drones banned because of idiot's doing stupid crap with their drones.
Listen up foolish flyers!! If I see somebody doing something idiotic with their drone I will politely ask them to immediately stop. If they continue I will proceed in stomping their *** and breaking their drone. No problem at all with an assault charge!! Wouldn't be the first one!!!

I totally support your behavior, minus everything but the politely asking them to stop part...

As this drone market is becoming more lucrative, it is just a matter of time till another company competes head to head with dji and then we see the good things happening .... we may also see Google drone

Wait, a Chinese company doesn't understand customers and wants to control behavior? Shocking! Next you will tell me their's gambling in a casino.

I'd like to know when this dang firmware will show up. its already the end of the week.Technically the beginning of a new week depending on where you live.

I understand and agree the need for control, more so, if we dont have it, countries/governments will just make a total band on UAV's. I will wait to see what DJI are going to do with this new update...... ultimately it may work out better for us.... who knows, but at the moment its all guess work.

On the flip side, DJI are in danger of pushing users over to the Dark-side, where people are working on hacking the system to remove these restrictions.

Much the same way Apple did with the iPhone....... wasn't long before hacks were being released to allow users to do what they want with the device THEY paid for and OWN.

You dont have to do much searching to learn there is already a group working on the DJI firmware/software, and it wont be long before its all cracked wide open.

That will open the flood gates for UAV's flying around with no control mechanisms, and we all know how some will find it fun to fly within feet of moving aircraft or worse, fly over military bases.

Its a fine line they tread.

I will reserve any judgement until we see what the upgrades actually do to us or for us.

Incidentally, I have been dealing with a guy from their "Fly safe team", as I need to fly on an airfield where I have permission to fly. He has been pretty adamant in telling me NOT to upgrade from my 0400 version.
You do know that on .400 they cannot send you the unlock, right? I just went through this process, finally got my approval to remove my NFZ from my backyard, the killed the NFZ and the entire 30km around it, through 2018, but I had to update to .700. I was happy to make the "sacrifice" to be able to fly from home :-)

wait wait.. please explain.. if from 0.700 I get back on 400 I won't have any sort of problem with latest firmware?

The first time I flew my Mavic since updating (May 2017) I was lucky to be out in the front yard because the DJI Go 4 update requires you to log into DJI, accept the terms yada yada and this needs an internet connection. If I was at the park or beach I would not be able to fly. If I understand BR Henrik Olsen's video correctly this login is only required once after the update or at a new "region". Would 5 miles away be considered a new region?

I live in Alabama where I updated the app, re-logged in, etc. Then I went to Gastonia, NC - flew with no issues, then I went to Parkersburg, WV - again flew with no issues and last, I went to Chisel Finger, WV (weird name but gorgeous scenery) - once again flew with no issues. Only had to log in once when I initially upgraded.

You from West Virginia area?

Yeppers, born and raised in Vienna, moved to the Dallas TX area for about 20 years then to Alabama in 2006.

If the NFZ is intolerable, why not go back to 0400? DJI still provides access to it. What's the problem?
