Is there a way to reduce the subtitle information down to distance, height, latitude and longitude? I don't need the rest of the info at the moment, and as OPs picture shows the extraneous info covers the screen.

Nope it's all or nothing - unless you edit the subtitle file yourself to remove some that is.

I have a Mini 2 and I watch my videos on my laptop with VLC Media Player. This is a screen shot of a video. The subtitle info just takes up two lines on the bottom of the screen. Maybe if you change to a different media player.

Thanks for your replies Kilrah and Dronut. I am using VLC. I used this site to extract the SRT file. Per frame of video I have this much data in the subtitle (below). Similar to Ianzone's. The only data I want is at the end.

I think it is just a Mini SE thing. I used the site to extract the data from one of my videos. I tried saving the file as well as just opening it as a text file. I used two different browsers and every time I got results just like the screen shot.

The only thing I could think of doing to 'fix' the problem is to open the whole file as a text document and then use 'Find/Replace' to put a semi-colon in front of GPS so it becomes ;GPS.

Just replace every GPS with ;GPS

Then I'd save the file as a new file and open it in a spreadsheet program, using the semi-colon option as the separator. Then you could delete the first column and re-save the text file. It will contain just the positional data (eg. - GPS (175.9691, -37.5017, 14), D 510.63m, H 11.90m, H.S 0.00m/s, V.S 0.00m/s) which was in the second column.

Then rename it whatever you want with the .srt suffix.

I use Linux and that is the quickest and easiest way I can think of.

Thanks Dronut, Ive been working on your suggestion for a couple of hours. I feel that I am almost there, just need to do some research on .srt syntax i think. Below is what I have so far. If I figure this out i would like to make a tutorial on how to do it. I am finding other mini SE users who are having this same problem.

Hi indigo141. I'm away from home out in the sticks at the moment, so I don't have a good internet connection. I was going to try downloading a video with an .srt file attached to compare with yours but my signal is too low. So I just copy and pasted your data to a text file and saved it as test.srt and played a video, telling VLC that test.srt was the subtitle file I wanted to use. It worked fine. It kicked in at 5 seconds and ran until the 6 second mark, which is expected as you only posted 2 seconds worth.

So just save it as whatever filename you want, most likely the same as your video name, make sure the suffix is .srt and not .txt or anything else, and it should be OK. Have a happy new year. You'll beat us by 3 hours.

... and a happy new year to you Dronut, and to everyone else. I was encouraged by your being able to make an srt file that worked just from what I posted. Tried various things (including reinstalling VLC) but could not get the edited srt file to show on the screen. Got frustrated and then bored with it, Yesterday I finally had some success. I have found an odd method that works for me. I open the srt file with 'Subtitle Editor' (an app). I then simply export as plain text with some refinements. Voila, it works, Even as a text file. I have made a tutorial of the steps that work for me
