Y'all figured out how to load fly onto android 13 yet?

Won't be able to check in much, but

I don't want to reinvent the wheel either.

Here are the steps I've already taken:

I can connect it to wifi, and navigate to the DJI FLY download page.

The tablet (I assume) will not allow me to click on 'download'

Your site will not allow me to use my computer to download the apk from the same page.

I did find a copy of the apk online, I used a cable and moved it from my laptop to the tablet.

The tablet will let me select the apk in downloads, but the menu in files only has 'open with'. Double clicking or long pressing does nothing.

I have enabled developer options. There is nothing in there that suggests it can allow unverified apps to be loaded.

There is no Settings > Apps > Special access > Install unknown apps setting.

There is a setting that says the bootloader is unlocked, but I don't know if that's helpful in this situation.

You need to enable Developer mode on your phone to sideload any apk's

Also, may be nothing, but I noted you called it a phone. It is a tablet, for sure, but android thinks it's a phone...

I didn't expand the post. There's also a setting that you have to enable "Install Unknown Apps" in your privacy settings

It doesn't matter if it's a phone or a tablet. The setting to install unknown apps can be located or named differently, depending on the device and the version of Android that it's running.

Modern versions of Android let you search for settings. Open up the settings app and search for either "install" or "unknown". On my phone (Samsung S22U, Android 16), it's under Settings -> Security and Privacy -> More Security Options.

When you find "Install unknown apps", then enable it for the app that you are trying to open the apk file.

After installing the apk, go back and turn off "Install unknown apps". Unless you know what you are doing, you don't want that left enabled.

I tried searching from the settings search for install unknown. No results found.

Drilling down into install unknown apps, it says no apps. The hamburger menu only says 'show system'.

There does not seem to be a way to add an app to that screen.

If I instead select 'unrestricted data', the entire list of apps populates.

I am wondering what build of android this thing is at this point...

Ok.
So, here's what happened.

DJI over on their forum gave me a link so that I could download the apk onto my computer.

I then pushed that one over to the tablet via USB.

Then, using ADB, I remotely forced the tablet to install the apk.

It's now on there, whew!

Also google uses a play protect system that stops apps being installed that havent come from the playstore. this can be turned off in playstore settings

You should be able to sideload an APK onto an Android device that has not been linked to a Google Account. Assuming that you had the "Install unknown apps" (or equivalent) setting enabled.

It worked for me, I had to use adb though.
It would not install after sideloading.
