Zakynthos is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea, west of the Peloponnese, the third largest in the Ionian Islands archipelago.
The island is approximately 40 km long and 20 km wide. The highest mountain is Wrachionas (758 m), also known as Kaki Rachi (literally "difficult to climb"). The south-eastern part of the island is lowland, the western part is mountainous. The coastline of the island is approximately 123 km long, with a cliff-type west coast. The climate is Mediterranean.

The capital is the city of Zakynthos with the largest port on the island and the airport located approximately 8 km away. The most popular holiday resorts are: Laganas, Argasi, Planos, Alikanas, Kieri, Tsiliwi.
