Zoom not impressed.

Been playing with the mini 4 pro and the zoom really degrades the quality. For some reason using the zoom looks worse on the mini 4 pro compared to the mini 2 and if you use x3 it gets even worse. I know it's only digital zoom.

As far as I can tell the sensor resolution is the same as the mini 3 and that has the same problem. This kind of digital zoom only works with much higher resolution sensors.

I'd like to know if you set the frame rate to 60 or above, can you still zoom? On the mini3 Pro zoom wasn't available at 60fps.

The zoom works at 4K 60fps and below, but if you go to 4K 100fps, it is disabled.

If you can edit video there is very little or no reason to use any zoom on single focal length lenses.

I think zooming can be useful to help you frame a shot. But agree, after using it to frame and making sure I like the angle, I would zoom back out and crop it in post. More flexibility, and potentially better upscaling tools.
