Yup yup... I tend to do things arse backwards! Take my love for the MP for instance. An ol' friend, and riding buddy, had purchased a Phantom a few years ago. We had met while residing, and riding (HDs), all over the state of Florida. He then moved on to Georgia and I to Arizona. I loved it when he would post his flights on FB. The views were amazing and I always looked forward to his next vid. Thus began my interest in personal drones. I spent a month or two researching 'the tube' for vids and what was best to get started on. I quickly learned... after finding the Bebop, that wifi and my phone (Samsung G6) wasn't the option I wanted to start with. So I researched drones with RC connections and found the MP. To say it was love at first sight... well.. it wouldn't be too far off. That's when the Mav Porn began! I musta watched 100's of Mav Vids... tutorials, setups, all your shared vids, everything I could find on the MP. Which eventually led my to here...
Fantastic forum! Very informative and the members are very helpful. Sure your gonna come across the OG members that are now tired of us noobs coming in and asking the same ol' questions, without first taking the time to find the answers themselves. Totally understandable... been there... done that. Search engines just don't always find what you're looking for if you don't input the proper query for it to match up in previous posts. But I just kept chuggin' along... searching here... searching DJI's forum.. reading here... reading DJI's forum... just collecting as much information as possible. Learning what to purchase, as far as accessories, and what to stay clear of. I quickly learned that being an Android guy wasn't gonna do me much good with this product. It is built for Apple products! Read the manuals.. it's in there! So instead of fighting the system to conform to my liking, and this is where we go 'bass ackwards', I purchased the iPad Mini 4. You are correct, according to the manuals the MP is built to work with the iPhones, but upon my research I learned the Mini 4 was one of the best options. Especially for someone like me with eye sight slowly going with age. The bigger screen is a must have. Thanks to input from some good members in here, I have the Mini all setup and ready to go.. specifically, and dedicated, for the MP. Oh... but then it get's worse...
I continue to edjimakate myself with the do's and don'ts.. stuff needed and waste of money. I then figured out the Fly More package I was interested in may not be the best money spent for me. I thought it to be a great deal with the extra batteries and chargers and such. Then, thanks to the members here, I learned 1)the car charger only works when car is running to provide proper power for charging the MP batteries. 2) the docking charger only charges one at a time, and 3) the bag/ I would prefer a case. I really don't see the need for the car charger. If you're charged up before heading out, you should be good to go. Most vehicles these days, mine is a '09 Toyota even, has a 110-115v "plug" built in them. Typically to the rear, or as in my case, right in the front console. If need be, I can plug my charger in there. So basically I'd be paying extra for the two batteries and a some conciliation prizes. I found it better for me to just get the right charger.. charges all simultaneously... I figured out I would want some extended landing gear.. definitely a couple extra batteries... sunglasses (lens) for the camera.. RC stick holder.. and a decent case. So yeah, if you've been following along with the theme here... you know what I did. I ordered up all the accessories I needed to go with my iPad Mini 4 just sitting here waiting for the day I break down and purchase a MP!! Totally bass ackwards!!! It's all just sitting here waiting patiently. So finally I did it...
Purchased the MP, along with two extra batteries, through my local Best Buy. Should be here by the end of the week. I'm like a kid waiting on Christmas morning to arrive!! Can't wait to put it all together.. and then sit down with my collection of videos to set it up and spend another month or more setting in the muscle memory of how to control my new bird. I figure by this time next year, I may be ready to set 'er free into the wild without worry.

That is my story almost exactly. I have the iPad mini 4 but that's about it. I am waiting for my annual bonus before the purchase of my Mavic Pro and all the extras. I have read and investigated everywhere I can. Have had a few toy quads and I was hooked. I think I ran across the MP on amazon and that's when it started. I have been reading this forum since mid February and have learned a ton. I think I have watched all YouTubes that are worth anything and it's funny how I'm sitting there correcting them in my head because that's not what I read on Mavic Pilots. This forum has been the single most informative place yet. When I started I was going back and forth on buying an MP but am positive I want one now. Can't wait.
Maybe I can post a few videos and may even be able to help someone someday.
Good luck bluesdragon.

Very similar story for me, though mine arrived 2 weeks ago. Only had 2 real flight days so far, the latest this morning and my first of flying anything over water (been in RC model aircraft on and off for 35 years).

Only difference for me is I am using an iPad Air 2 full sized as the iPad mini I was going to use was too old and slow to load up the software. Have a holding bracket in its way, currently held in place with rubber bands...

Extremely happy with today's flights, none of the fancy auto stuff though, all purely manual flying. What I can see I now need though is some filters. Didn't preorder any of them. Flying over the busy river at mid day sun is dang bright!

I wish you all blue skies and fair winds and hope you all have some wonderful experiences with your Mavic.

Thanks @Jenee! Yes, I tend to let my brain go on and on when writing. It' Christmas!... "out for delivery" says the tracking info. Now I'm feeling more like the expectant Dad. This is gonna be a looong day today.

Thanks @flightmike! C'mon bonus!! I feel for ya, bro. Everyday I'd be watching and reading. Then the wife would get home from work and I'd b like, "I so want this drone!". Some of the post, I must admit, made me stand back and take another look... over and over again. Then I remembered I am like Yogi..."smarter then the average bear." ;)

@SeaComms ; Good to hear everything is flyin well for ya! I get the rubber band tablet holder. We do what we gotta do to get'r done! I like the idea of the launch pads. Especially living in a desert state.. too many rocks and stones that could cause camera/gimble troubles upon landing. Most look to be no more then a windshield sun blocker with a picture. So my cheap arse took one outta my car, flipped it over, and made it my launch/landing pad! :)

You mean like this: (except I bought new one and cut it in half)
