I've been contemplating the idea of buying this cool drone but what is holding me back is the price (not so much) and the idea that I've never did fly a drone before and I might crash it on the first flight (big time scare)
Any of you being a rook like me bought one with no issues at all? I guess I need some encouragement lol
Thanks guys

The best thing to do would be to buy a fairly cheap, used drone. My first one was a Phantom FC40. I learned a great deal with this bird and had a couple of inevitable crashes, none too serious though. I then progressed and spent a bit more money when I felt comfortable flying. I have both the Mavic Pro and the Phantom 4 Pro + .

Buy a new Mavic, assuming you can get your hands on one. Get either Refresh or State Farm insurance.

Watch intro videos on Youtube. Get a friend to help with setup and first flight (unless you are an Alaskan bush person).

If it crashes, you are covered. If it is totally lost, State Farm has your back. If you decide you dont like it, you can sell it without taking too bad of a beating because new ones are still scarce. Or better still, get it from Best Buy, they will let you return it even if its been flown.

If you buy a used one, you dont have enough experience to know if its a beater or not. At least if you get a new one, you know (probably) its problem free from the get go.

Thunder-Drones has the right idea. When you have a personal articles insurance policy it relieves quite a bit of the fear of crashing and being stuck with a large cash expenditure to repair or replace.

So I live in Florida, let's say I buy the drone but don't buy the dji insurance y can go with State Farm and they will cover the cost? Do you k ow how much is it btw?
Thanks

I think refresh is great to have, but I think you have to have one to turn back in. Around water state farm might be better option chance of sinking it ( can't be found )

And refresh it's year by year too? Because I can go with State Farm first and then if I use it I can go with refresh, no?

Refresh is only for first year no more after that. I'm going to use refresh first year, then if you use State Farm the second they won't cancel your policy

I used to be an RC plane pilot which is a significantly different flight experience than drone piloting. When I bought the Mavic it was the first full sized quad-copter I've owned. It always was little nano-copters that belonged to other people before then. So I would call myself a rookie pilot when it came to the Mavic. No issues so far, and I also purchased DJI Care Refresh for an additional $99 which a great insurance policy. Essentially, if you destroy your Mavic, $79 will get you a replacement.

Also started with the Syma X5C. Flew it around for several months. Bought my Mavic. If you can fly the Syma, the Mavic is a breeze.

Just DO IT! You will not be sorry...Merlin23(my little bird) is just an AWESOME and fun machine...period...I have watched many, many YouTube vids..a lot of the vlogs (TomsTechTime, Ed Ricker, Dylan Young, TV Specialist, Aeroworks....to name a few)do a great job explaining how to get started..my only advice...take it SLOW at the beginning...and fly the beginner program until you figure out how to make it turn and you learn how to be a pilot...there's plenty of time to advance along through all the fabulous things the Mavic will do...but take...your...time......
