I got a Tello for my grandson who didn’t show any interest in so I’ve used it myself for the same reasons you’re currently thinking about it. I’ve used myself and its pretty imp with what it does at the price point. I have a Mavic 2 Pro and when I can’t use it this a nice one to just fly around.

Driving towards Red Rocks I found a Model Airplane Club and the Vice President was there with a Inspire drone flying around. He was kind enough to like me fly my Mavic 2 Pro around for some shots. Also mentioned to me about the AMA and it’s insurance coverage, it’s worth checking out.
My experience with them is that they stand behind their products and they will, write to them. The new version of the landing gear is much improved. Good luck.
