7 Cinematic drone shots with any drone

Thanks for sharing. Some of those are moves I‘ve been doing when I go out but I hadn’t ever considered descending and panning from straight down, up toward the horizon. I like the sense of movement in that one. Great tip!

    Wraps, covers silicone jackets etc

Exactly! This! My Mavic 2 Pro is wrapped in bright yellow vinyl to make it easier to see in the air and if it ever goes down somewhere unexpected. The only ill effect I’ve had is that some corners are starting to peel after 2 years of frequent use.

One of the most beautiful places in Norway! (With my new Mavic Air 2)

Truly beautiful. From the reflections of the cliffs in the water to the stunning footage of the waterfalls. Excellent! Thanks for sharing!

World's Largest Open Pit Copper Mine

Congrats on the retirement! And nice periodic table pun! I always love those. 6,200 feet deep is amazing for any kind of mine. Guessing the boys at the copper pit here won’t ever get that deep. Or the mine will swallow the whole city. ? Best wishes from dusty Utah!

World's Largest Open Pit Copper Mine

Thanks! Honestly, the conditions weren't great for this shoot just due to the harsh light. But whenever I fly under less than great conditions, I figure I'm just practicing for when the light is better. Even a bad day flying is still better than a day chained to my desk!

Handy gadget for the car - li-ion jump start kit

Very useful gadget but I want the version of this gadget that allows me to plug in a few Mavic batteries and jump start my truck with them. Somebody's got one of those, right?

World's Largest Open Pit Copper Mine

Thanks! Glad you liked it! So here's the funny thing about that yaw movement. That shot was actually sped up! I find just moving slow is the key. Then I can always tweak the speed in post. I always shoot with a 1/60th shutter when I'm doing 30 frames per second video. That helps a ton too.

World's Largest Open Pit Copper Mine

World's Largest Open Pit Copper Mine

I went for a drive last weekend and ended up at the overlook for the Bingham Canyon Mine on the west side of the Salt Lake Valley. Like the title says, this place is the largest open pit copper mining excavation in the world. It's over 2.5 miles wide at its widest point and almost 4,000 feet...

    Monument Valley

Sounds like you’re well aware of the restrictions in National Parks, Recreation Areas and Monuments. But there are large areas of Southern Utah managed by the Bureau of Land Management where drones, OHVs and other things are totally fair game. Some Utah State Parks also allow flights with a...

Temporary Flight Restrictions in DJI Go 4

Hi, knowledgeable friends! Yesterday I was unable to fly at one of my favorite spots. DJI Go4 said there was a temporary flight restriction zone and showed it will be in effect until October. So no takeoff. The area where I had planned to fly showed clear in AirMap and Kitty Hawk but there was a...

Adventures North of St. George, Utah

I would love to go RVing full time! Maybe after another couple of decades of work. We do have a travel trailer that we do weekend getaways with for now. Mesquite will be a perfect base for all kinds of desert adventures. Enjoy Bryce Canyon! Such a gorgeous place! The land surrounding it would...

Adventures North of St. George, Utah

Excellent! You'll get some great shots in that area with your Zoom. Even if you don't go out over the water, just take that bird straight up in the air and do a panorama or two. They'd come out great. Be sure to share your shots! Don't forget if you do decide to take off and land from inside the...
