    New terrified pilot

For days when I can't get out to fly, I bought a Blade Inductrix (basic, no FPV) to fly indoors. (There are many other manufacturers out there) Great fun, practically indestructible and great for getting basic drone flying experience. Infinitely more twitchy than a DJI but just what is needed...

    Hit by a drone

En pleine tyrolienne, il est percuté par un drone It's in french but Google translate should work on it. They make a reference to an article in a local paper but you need a subscription to get more information, including a photo of the injury from what is written.

    Hit by a drone

A guy on a zip wire here in Switzerland was hit on the head this week by a drone piloted by a tourist in a no-fly zone. He was going about 50 Km/h at the time and was treated in a clinic for his injuries. I don't have any more details but he must have been wearing a helmet to be still alive!

    Air 2 left stick question

Unfortunately, I think that the only way to get anywhere near the fixed-wing experience with a drone would be to buy one that you can control with a classical RC and use a control stick mix when you wish. But that's really defeating the idea of a drone isn't it? You just have to modify your...

    Ban on DJI

If DJI wanted to spy then they would encourage us to to fly into NFZs instead of preventing it as some complain about ???

    Airspace warning - why?

Here is an extract from the Airdata log, and a plan of the area, taken from Fly Safe, which is about 20 miles NE of Geneva. The warning location is about 1.6Km (1 mile) from the edge of the warning zone. As I mentioned, I discovered that there is a locally imposed 5km authorisation zone around...

    Airspace warning - why?

This weekend I did a flight about 1.5 km away from the edge of the Fly Safe warning zone for a local aerodrome, but still got a Class D airspace warning. The Fly Safe zone is the usual flight path area. Counties can impose their own airspace regulations here in Switzerland, and locally we have...

Mavic Air 2 - Is it really THAT bad?

It took me a little while to swap from plane to drone controls. With a plane, airspeed and angle of attack (elevator) is everything! No worry about that with a drone :) Have you tried Mode 2 since your post?

    VLOS ?

This is a quote from "Visual Acuity" on Wikipedia: The maximum angular resolution of the human eye is 28 arc seconds or 0.47 arc minutes,[18] this gives an angular resolution of 0.008 degrees, and at a distance of 1 km corresponds to 136 mm. This is equal to 0.94 arc minutes per line pair (one...

    Spare batteries.

I finally ordered 2 batteries and when the order went through I got the message that they did not have any in stock, and no date yet for delivery. Maybe that means that they will get the new production batch - at least I can hope so. And they are a very reputable electronics supplier. Anyway...

New Mavic Air 2 in Lake Worth, fl

Sorry, as an Englishman, I mis-read the title and assumed it was someone else who had lost his new Mavic Air 2 while flying over water.? Welcome to the forum, enjoy flying, and be warned ?

    Mavic Air Video

I use VSDC. It's quite easy to use and has many great editing features, but there must be plenty more basic programmes if you just want to do simple operations. I think there is one already in Windows. Handbrake is good for compressing videos. Happy editing!

    Mavic Air Video

It's to avoid losing all your video in case of a problem with a file. GoPro does the same

Mavic Air flew off, accelerated and smashed in to a wall at nearly 40mph!

Nothing to do with the crash itself, but I am confused about the compass calibration procedure. Don't hesitate to tell me I am dumb (or more politely, mis-interpretating things), but for me, the nose is the end where the gimbal and antenna legs are. The instructions say nose pointing downward...
