Crossing a country where drones are banned

As I mentioned, I have no interest in flying a drone where not allowed. My question is purely about dealing with crossing through a prohibited country while carrying a drone. Regardless of flying. If driving around Nicaragua was an option, I would.

Crossing a country where drones are banned

I appreciate the replies. I fear that's the reality I'm facing here. And agreeably, nothing is worth risking jailtime. What I do wonder though about a country such as Mexico, is if they'll seize it at the border or if I'm just not allowed to fly it. It's something that'll require some reading...

Crossing a country where drones are banned

Hopefully this is the correct place to ask. I'm planning on going on an overland world trip in the near future by car, for which I'd like to bring my Mavic Air with me. This causes some problems with a few countries that outright ban drones which I'll have to pass through. First of all, I want...

    Launch and return to boat

I see. Though active, the compass is no longer used for positioning right? Considering Atti mode is used whenever the quad goes haywire in GPS mode. In that case one would still be able to fly the quad regardless of magnetic interference.

    Launch and return to boat

This may be an odd idea, but perhaps you could reprogram the sports mode switch into an atti mode switch and fly using atti mode instead. If I recall correctly, atti mode does not utilize the compass. The downside is though, you need to be more experienced into controlling your quad as there is...

    Mavic Air Question

There's a "Return to China" button on it. If you press it, the quad flies off to China.

Power the Mavic air battery with Powerbank?

While it is possible to use a MA battery as a powerbank with the provided piece, it's unfortunately not possible to charge it with an ordinary one due to the required adapter. Though, I did come across this video from Drone Valley which mentions a portable charger for the MA, similar to a...

    Death of a drone

I can't help but giggle at that sentence. But sorry to hear about losing your quad. Especially like this since there is very little you can do about it once it happens. Makes me wonder if there's a quicker way of landing the quad. I've set my movement controls really precise which makes it...

    Quick capture fly away

AFAIK, the MA never ascends because of an obstacle. Only with APAS enabled it tries to swerve around obstructions on a horizontal level. With APAS disabled you'd then be notified by bleeps and visual collision detection on the video feed. So I'd say a RTH is the most likely scenario that caused it.

    Quick capture fly away

As a 'logless guess' I'd say it sounds like the MA lost transmission and initiated return to home. Did you set the lost transmission setting to Hover instead of RTH? The flyaway afterwards could perhaps have been caused by the impact of the first crash, causing either the compass or IMU to mess...

    Should I worry?

That might very well be the case. Of course I cannot confirm that since I can't properly examine logs, but the quad does appear to be at a height where it is susceptible to wind shears that you don't necessarily encounter at ground level. Especially at the beginning of the video it looks like it...

    Should I worry?

Interesting how the log says you entered Active Track. Perhaps someone with more knowhow can tell if the logs should or should not make a distinction between quickshots.

    Manual Settings vs Auto

There's no golden method, however the biggest advantage of shooting manual is that you have no exposure "jumps" like when transitioning from a relatively dark forest to a bright sky. The auto exposure could suddenly make the forest pitch black without any fluent transition, which doesn't look...

    Just curious

Sounds pretty recognizable :D I always take my time when unpacking new tech. It just has something therapeutic to it. Congrats on your MA!

Just got MA, very disappointed in range and noise.

Like a lot of things, it is nothing more than an irrational fear of the unknown. Because you are completely right. The MA, as loud as it may be for a drone, is as harmless as it can get. But simply because people don't know what it exactly is, and often associate drones with scary stories from...
