    Open field except....

I always first look for an "open" area that is at least 50 feet across, and that clear area has NOTHING above it. When I take off, I always go up to my present RTH altitude, stop and with the camera straight horizontal, do a slow 360 to be sure nothing is taller than my RTH. Only then do I move...

Why do you need internet connectivity?

I like to have the maps available (which need internet in new locations) to verify my compass is functioning OK.

    Hover a while!

I feel the most important first check is to be sure your compass is calibrated, and appearing to show the correct orientation. To me, another one of my "checklist" items to the verify the RTH elevation. Even though I do not ever mess with it, I still check to be sure it is OK and note where it...

Battery shows 0.0V on screen, indicator LEDs show full. Communication problem, solution?

I have experienced exactly the same thing with one of my M2P batteries. According to my flight records it has 39 flights, but one time when I went to take off, I got exactly the same 0.0 volts and message. I have tried to charge and discharge it, and it will charge and discharge. I have given...

Strange Battery situation with my M2P

sar104 - Thanks for your assistance. Here are the two flight records from yesterday. I assume the real small log is where I started it up, but could not do anything as the drone thought the battery was dead.

Strange Battery situation with my M2P

I will check and post the dat file once I let the battery run down a little more. Is that something that can be corrected, or is the battery dead. I have plugged it in and removed it several times....

Strange Battery situation with my M2P

I went to fly today, charged two batteries, but the first battery had a full charge (by the ring), yet the drone noted "The remaining battery is only engough for RTH. Return home now". On the screen the battery has an N/A. yet the battery ring is still showing a full charge. The battery has...

    RTH but not landing

I have had my M2 give a warning like Thomas B referenced, but it was a note that came across on my Smart Controller. The situation was on a back porch up in the mountains. The M2 came all the way home, but stopped about two feet off the porch when it sensed the steps down to a lower level about...

Quick question about Airplane flying over your drone

I have found many times I will hear a plane (or helicopter) well before I can see one. I am up on a big lake in North Carolina, and the pilots love to come down to 100 to 200 feet above the lake. Keep ALL your senses alert when flying....

    Swapping mavic 2 camera assy

It depends upon what type of pictures you will be taking. I started off as an M2P and found that camera is much more adaptable to different lighting and other conditions. My limitation was that I am many times needing to take close up pictures of equipment on roofs in the process of my work. I...

    Propeller Life Expectancy

I always check the props before and after a flight. I think it is also very important to be "situationally aware" of your drone when flying. Any strange or different sounds, or if the unit is acting unsteady, bring it down and go over everything to be sure something is not going south on you.

Just got call from the FAA about my name.

When dealing with the FAA, be very careful how your name is spelled. When I was filing for my 107 license, the gal typing in my information added a space at the end of my last name inadvertently, but I did not notice it (because you can't see an extra space) when I signed the paperwork. Well...

    Flying Etiquette

Just an addition, some states, like North Carolina, ALSO require commercial pilots to get licensed by the state. Where ever you fly commercially, it is wise to check if the state also has licensing laws.

    Can A Pro2Z Do This?

I started with an M2Pro and then bought a zoom camera. I prefer the zoom because I can get great up close shots without getting to close. If you are not doing "pro" type video, the video can zoom up to 96x. I use the zoom to film my horses and it works great.
