A recently retired police officer in Texas, certainly not Thailand but…..
Paperwork and nonsense.
Police work is (or should be) about solving problems. Police actions of almost any kind requires paperwork. Sometimes it is a lot of paperwork and time.
Most police don’t want to mess with...
To at least understand where I’m coming in forming my opinion….
I recently retired with a little over 37 years as a police officer in Texas. For about the last 25 years I have taught what is essentially constitutional law as it applies to the police. I am also an FAA licensed private pilot and...
:)
Yep, I retired in May 2021 after 37 years and created and commander our drone unit.
I might smile and say, call the local police and maybe one of the few hundred officers that I have trained and/or supervised might show up and we can discuss old times.
For what it’s worth, in my opinion the response was almost perfect. I am viewing this as a 37 year police officer.
I interpret it as, we don’t have an issue with you flying ibut if you break some law, don’t point the finger at us and say, “they told me I could”.
It’s just a tad more...
I agree. I am police officer, Part 107 pilot and have a private pilot’s license (none of which makes my opinion more valid but I participate in and understand both sides).
The police, even as mentioned in the document, still have authority over local and state laws which may apply and those...
Close the thread!! 🤣
We have a simple one syllable word that practically everyone understands. I created and commanded a police drone unit and the policy is filled with sUAS, sUAV and UAV. Aaaaaand…. we call them drones and the drone unit. When a detective or supervisor needs aerial photos...
I have read Causby and agree with your opinion.
In Causby not only did they not make a ruling of 500 feet, they had no problem with airplanes flying down to 83 feet as far as airspace usage. Causby also had trees on his property and said that the airplanes going by at 83 feet, barely cleared...
I will suggest this that may or may not help.
I retired one year ago after over 37 years as a city police officer in Texas. About 4 years ago I helped create and until my retirement commanded our drone unit. I am also a licensed private pilot as well as a Part 107 drone pilot.
All of that...
Yes, location is everything. I have been to Arizona and frequent thunderstorms might be a blessing.
I live on the upper Texas coast and in the summer we might get thunderstorms every day for several days. They don’t usually blanket the area so you can see some crazy looking storms but be...
I am maybe 1.5 for now. I took classes in photography in the mid-1970s. I started with a Pentax K1000 and a few times developed film, pushed the ISO like 400 pushing to 1600 and so on. Maybe 4 years ago I took an online photography course which was mostly updating and refreshing from many years...
