It must be annoying having to suddenly pay this duty but I would rather pay it than save 10% and buy an inferior drone.

Are you suggesting that I or someone above doubts that Temu actually ships from US warehouses?

I'm opining they do ship from US warehouses and that it would be bad business to promote they do, if they don't. Not shipping from US warehouses could mean shipping by slow boat and possibily an increase in pricing if there are on again-off again tariffs in play.

What's really annoying to me is the tariff Sheriff's attempt to delude the general public that manufacturers, distributors, vendors, and importers at large will eat the tariffs and it won't cost us the consumer any increase. I've stopped paying attention to the State of the Tariff and just consider if the price is what I want to pay.

I wouldn't buy an inferior anything to save a few bucks. So if a quality drone or other product gets pricey for any reason I'll just hold off a bit. The last thing I want is a good new bad news situation – "Good news! Your drone/whatever is ready for pickup. Bad news! You own $80 in Customs duties. Have a nice day."

I've only ordered small bits directly from CN and a couple of watches from JP. The former never had duties added, but I was sweating the watches but they passed duty free as well. For the most part I'll be ordering from a US distributor/etc, so I'll know the cost of admission before we pull the trigger.

Instead of "eat" I believe the word "absorb" is the word of choice from those who try to pretend the additional cost becomes irrelevant as long as the end-consumer doesn't have to pay it directly.

Yeah their word choice is a spin but that's all it is. I'd say the pretending is really about the end-consumer not paying directly. To most of us this additional cost is irrelevant if we don't have to pay it. Either way it is pretending.

This might give the situation some perspective and point out that "absorb" isn't within anyone's vocabulary:
