Hey simmo, Ill be staying in Port Douglas. Apart from TGR is there any other awesome flying spots? Already checked where we are scuba diving with my tour and the dive spots are very open to flying. We are not diving near helipads. There is a big big helipad neat Mossman so cant do it there but everything south to south east of that is pretty much ok ( expect 2 small red circled helipads on Captain Cook Hwy)

Would appreciate any thing you can tell me.. Croc spotting? lol

Crocs on the Western side of the Mowbray Bridge at low tide. Or the Daintree river.
BTW you can fly near helipads, you just need to know the rules.
You cannot fly over people or populous area's.
Updraft Hang gliding run motorised hangliding tours and training out of Port Douglas, go see Kevin for his flight plans.
Hangliding off Rex Lookout, with pilots turning North to land at Pretty Beach or 4 mile beach.
Helicopter flight path from Cairns to Port D too.
Most of the coastline is spectacular.

Yeh I have been to Port Douglas before but before I got into drones. 4 Mile beach is very nice. Wonder if a croc will get scared of the buzzing noise and go under water if I find one. They would be pretty difficult to spot on the drone and I dont want to physically go near their territory lol. Are you able to tell me exactly where that bridge is? I can only find Mowbray road on maps

anyway aside from trying to be Steve Irwin

I know you can fly around or near them but not over the "red zone" there is a huge red zone near Mossman.
When I went last year in August 4 mile beach wasnt busy so hopefully its not when I go this month.
More worried about the weather as Dry Season just started

Thanks so much

Was that a drone shot? If so.. Wow
Not my photo, but you park on the eastern side of the road. You can carefully (100kph zone) cross the road into the Cane paddock, to get quite close and up quite high, a good zoom will get you a good photo of 4 mtr long 'Mo'!
This is my photo, of a Dragon fly at the Wildlife habitat up the road. (you need to look hard to find it!)20181028_105851.jpg
