A sunny early spring day afforded us the chance to get out with the drones, we decided to visit a place that has long been on our to-do list, the ruins of Raven Castle - Castell Dinas Bran, perched atop the windswept lonely hill above Llangollen.

The walk up is steep, but only a 3-mile round trip, but the views are amazing, especially on a still and sunny day. A busy spot and 4 other drone flyers flew while we were there. Still, we managed to get enough footage for a short video, which I hope captures the beauty of the place, the relaxed atmosphere and the sheer joy of being out in nature in the sunshine for those present after the long winter greyness.

Thanks Dale, glad it was enjoyed :)

Thanks, CAA rules depend on the size of drone and the licence you hold, with an A2CofC I am able to fly closer with the larger drones, can fly up to but not over with the Avata2, I can overfly people not in a crowd with my MINI3 Pro, and I stay further away with the AIR3, all 3 of those drones were used to achieve this video, the AIR3 for the faster orbits and longer distance, the MINI3 Pro for the closer in and flying over the structure, and the AVATA2 for the FPV stuff - I actually carried 4 drones up to the top in my rucksack, so 2 1/2 stone of extra weight, but worth it for the options I had to then fly :)

Thanks for that info. I'm pleasantly surprised that the CAA are that good about flying by and over people. They must be getting kinder in their old age. I almost thought those fast fly arounds were speeded up, it was so quick. Then I looked at people walking and saw a normal walking speed, so was impressed with the speed and smoothness.

Being from Wales, that location was not too far from our home. I might just pop up there when we return home for a holiday in June.

Yup, Sports mode in AIR3, and a good vantage point to keep VLOS, plus a spotter (hubby) to keep an eye on it, and vila, fast 50mph orbits and some good parallax...

Enjoy the trip home, I would also recommend Aber Falls, Rhiwagor Falls and Dinorwic Quarry for flights in the NW area, oh and Pisstyll Rhaeder waterfall too :)

Nice video thanks for sharing!
Thank you kindly :)
