are you using red and green as port and starboard (left and right) lights?
and are you able to sequence the blinking by timing the turn on?

I used white and red. I put the white on the front, and red on the back. I figured if I put them on the sides they would just blend together when you can see both of them. I could test this out. I could tell orientation by spinning the drone and seeing which light faced me. Both were visible at 8000ft, but not at the same time.
