A FRIEND FEARFUL TO FLY

I'm kind of like that friend. I want to fly more but I get nervous. I don't mind flying up, It's flying away from me that makes me nervous. I'm even more nervous over water. I see videos of people flying out over water to an island for a 30 min flight and I'm on the edge of my seat the whole video. I'd love to be able to fly like that but it would take a whole lot to get me to that stage.

I recently got a Mavic 4 Pro. (I'm currently flying an Air 3) I really wanted the extra reach of the additional telephoto lens I also thought since it's bigger and I could see it better, and I wanted the better obstacle avoidance. I may just return it though since I'm not sure have a need for such an advanced machine.

Hi R,
My friend had one as a present, but it scared him so much he returned it. At least we're not quite that nervous ;)

I presume that you enjoy going out with it, so just do baby steps. I'm concentrating on waypoints, while I learn and get familiar with my Pro4 mini.

I'm looking forward to 'say' a long empty beach where I can fly it a long way away, at a low altitude, then fly it back remembering that there is RTH, if I'm not sure.
C.

I have a friend that is fearful of sending his drone out beyond say 75 yards.
I noticed this the other day when we were flying together for the first time.

Here's how it went:
We both had the drones up and, in the air.
While I sent mine out and watching the screen, he glanced at my screen and said "man, you're over that building in the open field".
Soon thereafter, I returned to my home point to see how he was doing.
SURPRISE.........he is up about a 100 feet and fly's out about 50 yards or so, comes back down and lands, only to walk over to retrieve his bird.
He did this a few times in different directions of course.

It really didn't dawn on me till later that night, I believe my friend was afraid of losing his drone.
It was cold that day and I just assumed that he didn't want to fly that much because of the temp.
He has flown around his home area (community) very little.
He purchased the drone about 6 months ago., after he saw mine. It's a DJI Mini 3

I pay this little episode out to all here that reads this for a solution in helping this gent overcome his fear.
Open to one and all for suggestions.
Thx,
360
Help him gain confidence, its the best you can do.
