I can't answer that definitively, but would suspect that the direction the arrow is pointing may be off. GPS does not provide orientation or heading (especially if stationary). If the compass data is not accurate, the map may show the MP pointing in an erroneous direction. However, the PATH that it flies (the line it draws as you change location) is based on GPS and that will continue to be accurate.
If you're in ATTI and the compass is inaccurate, don't go off of which way it's facing instead, push forward on the right stick and watch how the line is drawn. Adjust the yaw/rotation (left stick) until the line is heading back in your direction.
