A fair walk up 800ft from the car park, past Cwmorthin waterfall and through the valley of Cwmorthin, and you find the enigmatic ruins of Rhosydd - beautiful in their own way, but ultimately the debris of industrial decay and the plunder of natural resources...

Surrounded by stunning views and with a nearby waterfall, the place looks both rooted and alien in the landscape. The spoil heaps add a contrasting brutality to the lush greenery, and the remains of the buildings show not only that life was lived here but also the skill of the people who built them.

Must have been a bleak existence. Wondering what all the rock is? Are those tailings for mining something else, or was that rock what they were after?
Great music match; spooky and ominous. I wonder how/if they heated those dwellings.

Thanks, the workings was for Slate, both above and below ground, the spoil heaps are waste, slate and other rocks that were in the way... I guess the barracks were heated by coal... And their chapel was down the valley, so a long walk there and back..
