How many UK members feel that the A2 CofC is worthwhile? I am on the point of signing up for it after a long time deliberating whether just to get rid of the drone or be tied to 150m distancing regs. I am on my second Mavic Air after selling the first one thinking I wouldn't use it enough. I don't want to make the same mistake twice so think I'll just bite the bullet and sign up for the course as if I keep it I would like to have a bit more freedom as to where I can fly it.

I was going to post about this, and I've signed up for the course via UAVhub. The presenter is really good, and I'm enjoying the course - feeling positive 
My drone (Mavic 2 Zoom) is classed as legacy, so I have to stay 50M away from basically anybody, but looking forward to buying a C2 drone sometime.
I haven't got to the bit of the course where it discusses if we can use this in Europe, but if the same rules apply from this qualification I'll be a happy boy

I am going to be signing up for the UAVhub A2 CofC course, but I have a couple of concerns.
I fly a Mavic 2 Pro, which falls under the legacy rules until the 30th June, 2022. After that date, I will only be able to fly my aircraft in the A3 ‘far from people’ category which meaning I will once again must stay 150m away from residential, industrial, business and recreational areas and a minimum of 50m from uninvolved people.
The UAVhub website says the A2 CofC qualification lasts for 5 years, after which it has to be renewed. But with my Mavic 2 Pro, the qualification will only be of use to me for 18 months, unless I then spend another £1500 on a comparable drone which complies with the C2 class of aircraft. But the website also says "Please note: There are NO EXAMPLES of a C2 class aircraft on the market at the time of publishing this article".
What are the chances of the legacy Mavic 2 Pro firmware being updated to make it compliant with the C2 class?

I passed the course, but have the same question - would a Mavic 2 be backwards certified if they are still selling the same drone without significant changes?
It's my guess that the Mavic 3 will be out by then, and will be certified and they won't backwards certify our drones to prod us into buying new tech.
My solution will be to use my current drone for sweeping landscapes and probably get a Mini 2 for close up work.

Theres no business case for DJI attempting to back certify mavic 2s.
The regulations dont even make it clear if its possible,
Far easier to release a mavic 3 instead.
Its not a firmware update - its full physical certification and then may only be able to apply to devices bought SINCE certification with the airframe properly marked.
I guess im going to have to buy a "mavic 3" or equivalent when it comes out. The camera/sensor quality of the mini and smaller drones simply isnt acceptable for me.
