I am totally new to this field. Bought a mini without knowing i had to have a 64bit device to run the dji fly ap so cannot even activate device. Is there any way of activating other than through the fly app?

The Fly app isn't just for activating the drone, you need it to actually fly the drone too. So without a proper mobile device, you are out of luck.

Thankfully there are plenty of used mobile devices out there, and as far as I know having a cellular account isn’t a requirement. Just that you can connect it to home WiFi for activation / updates.
