I hope this is the right subforum. I intend to go through the process to earn my Part 107 certification, and I understand the process will change on Jan 13th. For those of you familiar with the process & the upcoming changes, is there any reason I should (1) hurry to take the exams before the change, or (2) wait til after the change to apply ... or will it not matter either way. Will it cause issues if I’m midway in the process when the change takes place?

I don't think it will matter if you take the exam prior to the changes, as far as I read it the changes wont be effective until Jan 13th, so from that point on moving forward you would need to go through that process, prior should not matter once underway of the exam, and IACRA process.

At this point being a couple weeks away, unless you were planning and schedule an exam at your testing facility for the next coming weeks

best of luck

Thanks for asking this - I've been planning to test, will follow this thread to decide whether to hurry up or hold off.

An online study course will cost you approximately $200 and the test at one of the PSI sites will cost approximately $160. These are current costs as I just completed taking the Part 107 exam. Why wait? Start studying!

Thanks for the feedback! I’ve been studying, but haven’t decided yet whether I’ll use one of the paid courses. I started the FAASafety one (free), and so far it’s OK, though it’s difficult to find your way back to where you left off between study sessions. I’m kind of leaning towards a paid course as that way I’ll be sure I won’t miss anything important, and I assume the material will be current based on the latest rules. And it sounds like it may not really matter whether I take the test before or after the Jan 13th date...

The course I took remotepilot101 gears their course to relevant test question information and stays up to date on the latest rules/regulations being tested. It is also a lifetime course and has a recurrent testing section as well for when that time comes, again keeping up with the latest rules/regulations in place and relevant exam information/questions. It had very clear videos and easy to follow the information. With my busy work/life schedule having a place to go to that is very organized neat and precise is exactly what I needed.

I believe a lot of other online courses have a similar structure, but after review and a promo code I went with my above choice and got the course I think half off. Exam is pass or fail and you pay either way.

I think the benfit of the paid online courses is they break the material down in a systemic way so you can focus on the most important elements for passing the exam.
