Even on short flights, my Air 2s seems to get really hot on the underside of the drone. Is this normal? It seems extremely hot to me.

welcome to the forum!
mine gets warm on the belly also, but not too hot to handle.
check if you have any vents blocked.

The ribbed metal part of the underside is a heat sink.
Heat sinks are supposed to get hot ... that's what they do.

IT'S NORMAL FOR THE AIR2S. It gets really hot. The batteries easily get over 70 or 80 C when flying in 90-100 F degree weather in sport mode. I've had mine for 2mnths and talked with other forum members about it. The experienced ones concur that it's normal and nothing to worry about. I've really pushed my Air2S and have also flown it with considerable weight loads attached while in sport mode. The batteries haven't swelled and the app has not issued any warnings. I've learned to be ok with it. As a usual preflight check, always check your batteries for swelling, if you see any, don't use the battery, it may pop out or cause a malfunction.
