A while back someone posted a sample letter to send to local airports (when flying within 5 miles of an airport).
I should have saved it back then but now I can't find it. Been searching for it for 30 minutes.
Please post it if you have one

Thanks in advance.

Where have you seen anything about notifying an airport in writing? That is not a procedure I have ever read. The procedure is to call

I just replied to a thread earlier with it. Here it is again.

Wait... whaAat?!? Conflating Part 107 and Hobbyist procedures in the same document?!!? Thats a sure way to throw up red flags to the ATC, that you are not on your game. Combined with the fact that this document does not comply with the proper procedures for either Part 107, nor hobbyist to fly near airports, are to surely get you grounded

Right,
unmanned private airport, has no ATC. airport manager only. "Who you gonna call?"

In simple terms. I need to notify very infrequently used Heliports that are near my home. If you think that I am going to call them on the phone and leave a message every time I spin up my Mavic. Thats not going to happen!

This letter is to be used for unmanned , understaffed , infrequently used places where an aircraft may or may not ever land. I am not asking them for permission and instead I am pointing out my intent to fly when I would like.

They had no issue with it and since I sent the letter signature confirmation required and received confirmation that the letters were received my butt is covered.

The security manager at the Heliports is aware that I will be flying and agreed to text me during the times in which they have an inbound Careflight.

If the airport is a busy one and frequently used then this method is not the best approach.

You’re supposed to contact them before you fly, but none the less, this is what our airport manager requested:

I would "assume" that while you are within 5 miles of an airport, that you are still flying within Class G airspace? Other wise they would tell you are within controlled airspace, and don't fly there at all
So then, tell your airport manager that the FAA has set guidelines for sUAS operations, this form is not part up those guidelines. I (meaning you) am operating within Class G airspace, of which you (meaning airport manager) have no control over.

And the best way to tell this form was made up by an airport manager with delusions of grandeur, and not an actual FAA required form, is the second to the last paragraph that begins: "Anyone who owns a UAS ..."

Then ends "must notify the airport prior to flying the aircraft outdoors for hobby, recreation, or commercial use."

There is no notification required for Part 107 Certified drone pilots. We are required to know what airspace we are in. The 5 mile radius has zero bearing on Part 107 commercial flying. Only the air space classification.

Wait... whaAat?!?!? Your letter says... "Don't fly within 5 miles of an airport unless you contact the airport and control tower before flying"

It is a form made up by the manager, not the FAA. But I am not sure where you get the 107 rules stating that no notification is required. Unless they’ve changed and FAA has not updated their website, or you only mean while flying in G airspace and not the others, notifications are required as per this notice on the FAA website: “ Operations in Class G airspace are allowed without air traffic control permission. Operations in Class B, C, D and E airspace need ATC approval”. Part 107 Waivers

I dont mind emailing them the form whenever I fly within 5-miles of their boundary, for fun or for work when my 107 is granted, since I’ve always have been on good terms with them.

This rule makes sense for an airport with manned towers which has enough personnel to answer the phones. For other smaller ones, I do not see the point of calling in.
In smaller airports (the ones near me) may have 20 airplane hangers but no tower or ATC, one airfield. The airport manager manages the property + equipment. I m sure he/she has a phone# and will take calls (or not), but I don't see the point of attempting to call him every time I want to fly off my home's deck to 300 feet because I want to take a picture of the sunset.
Even if I would call every time I sure my number would get blocked quickly. Even if the call is answered, what would the airport manager do? jump on his golf cart and staple sticky notes on every hanger door "look out".?
This whole thing does not need to be taken out of content. Common sense must be used.
I suppose a call or a friendly face to face meeting would be a good start, asking- what you want me to do, want me to call you every time?

PS: I am in the very edge of the 5-mile circle, not remotely close the airport- would not want to be close because some of these private planes are noisy as hel*.

I was quite clear I was discussing Part 107 and Class G airspace. No notification is required in Class G air space by Part 107 pilots... ever. But it is also not prohibited if you so desire. The 5 mile airport notification rule is for hobbyist, that do not know how to determine what air space that they are about to fly in.

Yeah, I knew I was in G, and I always send notice to them. I did a fly in with the manager once and they know me rather well, and some of the tanker airbase crew there live on the road I was flying on mentioned on that form. So, I always say hi when flying near them.
