Alientech Duo II

great discussion here,
The new remote on mini 2/air2 is fantastic.
I’ve compared the stock remote with smartcontroller, yes the stock remote outperform the smartcontroller, thats why I replace the SC antenna with alientech duo, the result? Fantastic!

but now I’m waiting the duo II, cannot wait for it :)

I’m using smartcontroller because with stock new remote on mini2/air2/s the distance limit is 11.11km only :)
Hi, and with Smartcontroller how far you can go? Regards

Hello Mas Armydharis and everyone Mavic Pilots, I just want to share about my experience. I have DJI Smart Controller installed with Alientech Duo 2.4 & 5.8 gHz non power, installed at DJI local hobby shop in here in Indonesia. I already tested and it's works good, long range distance better than the stock antenna. Either I setting the Transmission keep in DUAL, 2,4 gHz or 5.8 gHz,with Auto or Manual, its good to go.

After several times I use it, I met my friends who have a Alientech Pro 5.8 gHz booster, powered with 2 of 18650 batteries.

Then I try the Alientech Pro 5.8 gHz booster to my DJI Smart Controller that already installed before, a pigtail with QMA female connectors, that fits either to Alientech Duo non power or Alientech Pro 5,8 gHz powered.

When I switched power on both DJI Smart Controller and Alientech Pro booster 5.8 gHz, on the DJI GO4, I switched the Transmission to 5.8gHz and choose manual.

I use Mavic 2 Zoom to fly. When first arming, is good, nothing happen. But when I try to hover about 10 meters height and distance just about 5 meters, it begin to strange happen.

There was a notification on the upper left DJI Smart Controller screen, the signal is frequently appear LOST SIGNAL. So when appear notif LOST SIGNAL, I cannot controlled the aircraft. Luckily, the smart controller was able to reconnect to the aircraft and can land safely.

Berfore, I already used ALientech DUO 2,4 / 5.8 gHz non booster, and it works good, either I set either the Transmission let it be DUAL or 2,4 gHz or 5.8 gHz with Auto or Manual, works GREAT and nothing happen like this LOST SIGNAL

Is it the Alientech PRO 5,8Ghz booster powered by battery, not suite for DJI Smart Controller ?

I have consult this matter to Alientech team, they seemed confused too, and finally they consulted DJI.

This is the answer from DJI to Alientech:
"The signal power is limited due to the 5.8G environment in Indonesia. When the system checks that the 5.8G power exceeds a certain value, the system will adjust the output value.

You may try to fly the drone a certain distance and then turn on the 5.8g booster.”

That was what DJI answer to Alientech.

According to the answer, that I must fly the drone a certain distance and then turn on the 5.8 gHz booster.
Is it logic ? When just hovering the aircraft with power booster on became Lost Signal, how come if the aircraft already far away and then I switch on the power booster on, is it will more LOST SIGNAL ?

As far as I know, in here (Indonesia), restricted to use 5.8 gHz. And inside the DJI app will do that restriction.

This is the statement from Alientech website : (How to choose ALIENTECH DUO antenna and Pro2.4G / 5.8G booster? )
“The radio management requirements of your region or country, for example, North America, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, etc. can use 5.8G; but in most European countries, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, and other countries 5.8G is restricted or not used.”

But I have did using the Alientech Duo non booster with set up Transmission to 5,8 gHz Manual, its works good and can flew long range in suburban environment, but when using the Alientech PRO power booster 5,8 gHz, why LOST SIGNAL during just hovering the aircraft ?

Regarding to this, I plan to have a Alientech DUO II 2.4 / 5.8 gHz power booster, but I still confuse and doubt to have it, I’m afraid to have same problem SIGNAL LOST like I did using the Alientech Pro booster 5.8 ghz that Ive tried on my DJI Smart Controller.

Please help and advise also suggestion from great Mavic Pilots forum in here for this matter. Or maybe somebody got the same experience, may also share.

Thank you very much.

I’m actually kind of upset right now. I just reverted my remote back to stock because I forgot to do a distance test to compare against...and stock absolutely destroyed my maximum range with the amplifiers. I got out to 13,000 ft before I had to turn around due to battery (because I ran two other test runs on amps prior and used the same battery). I was fully expecting to lose signal around 3k feet but this sucker just kept going. I’m at a loss. I wonder if I got a defective QMA cable from Alientech? Not sure. The rabbit hole keeps going deeper.
Mine did to than I got the rc controller back apart and I had the 2.4 and 5.8 switched mine would glitch out while the remote was trying to find the best channel stock I got out 2 miles Alientech duo ii about a mile I was like what the crap than I realized the install video never shows you which channel goes where so I opened up my duo and slapped myself lol hope this helps everybody
