On loft there is a section title “live air traffic” where it will show you drones on aloft if their drone is registered to the app.
This seems similar to remote Id except you cannot see the pilot. It is scary to think one day we might be able to be seen where we are flying… ps the photo is a screenshot of where the air traffic would pop up on app in aloft. :)

But as it is, wouldn't that only show drone pilots that enable 'Notify & Fly' in the app, prior to their flight? I mean, I do it on most of my flights, just to help with situational awareness for anyone that may be flying around me, although I've never seen any other drones up when I've been flying. Have seen fixed wing UAV's before, but they were a good distance away.

As for being seen where my drones are flying, I don't particularly care. When RID is enabled, will it show the location of the PIC also, or just the drone? I could see the issue with it showing the PIC, as then the haters could find the individual as become confrontational, while they're flying and risking an accident.

Nobody knows yet...Even the FAA. :p
But even so in reality they would have to put RID in the Transmitter as I could easily remove myself from the launch location and set my RTH to anything I choose in flight or to my new location on ground. ;)

So, since you mentioned this, I went into Aloft to see what it looked like. What is strange is that in the entire map, the only drone it detects is my Air 2S - and it is not even powered up. So, I wonder about the range and even more interesting is - Does DJI already have a remote ID installed without us knowing it? How else would Aloft know???

Wouldn't Aloft just be detecting the device you opened the app in? That's what it sounds like to me, not necessarily detecting your drone.

Rob,
I opened the Aloft App in my iPhone. I use the RC Controller to fly and it too is not powered up. Is it just showing my phone? Later when I go to lunch, I will test it out and go into Aloft from a different site than where my drone is.

I would think that is exactly all it's doing. Should change to your new location, when you're at lunch.
