An Odd Question, Perhaps

I have a Mavic 3 Classic which I fly irregularly. Up until now I've not tried to actively track myself - not enough guts, I guess, but here's the rub. I drive a road train set of tippers (3 articulation points and 36 + metres long) and I want to just get a little footage where I run on and off farms etc (at slow speed).... you know to capture some of the harvesting process. Try as I might, I don't seem to be able to "draw a box" around the target vehicle. I dunno if it's the multiple bends in the trailers, the sheer size of the damned thing, or just my stupidity or lack of dexterity drawing the damned box, or what. Has anyone else tried to do this with a road train (I am guessing someone has) and have you had success?

Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

Kindest regards

Indy

I believe some (or most) of the DJI tracking software is limited to specific shapes; cars, bicycles, boats, persons, etc. Don't know the full list but apparently a tipper is not on the list.

So it would appear……and in defence, I don’t suppose too many vehicles such as mine would be the subject!!!!! Now, I dunno how the software is written, but surely it can just follow WHATEVER is “boxed in”!

For any gurus who know about this stuff, I’ve attached a photo of the target vehicle (not the loader)!!

I would tie a red balloon to one of the antennas and draw a box around that…

I dunno if that was tongue in cheek, but might be worth a crack!!!!
Well, this thread captured my interest as I read through it. Maybe recommending a ‘red’ balloon was tongue in cheek, but I think the issue you are having is the overall size of the rig. A balloon may be not add cinematic appeal to what you are trying to do, but it just might serve as a trackable shape. Maybe there would be some other more cinematic item what you could attach.

Silly thought, but might work... get one of those life-sized cardboard celebrity cutouts and put it on top of the first trailer, then track that "person". Movie theaters have 'em all the time.

If you're only going a few mph, shouldn't blow off if secured down.

Video editing software can easily erase it.

Like I said,it might be worth a crack. I’ll be happy with any (not totally ridiculous) idea works!!!!😂😂

You haven’t seen my (lack of) editing skills!!!!!😂😂😂😂

Plus my computers are all Linux, so coupled with my less than stellar editing skills is the fact that I’ve yet to find a really outstanding video editor for Linux….and I am only a truck driver and not a technocrat (geek) who is time poor, so elevating those skills might be a while coming.

Having said that, giving it a focal point is probably the best option ….lwhen I get a round tuit.

FYI there's inexpensive smartphone editors that will automatically erase a "thing" from a clip, using that newfangled Artificial Insurrection technology, or whutevah it's called... no skill required 😁😁😁
