Any way to change settings in Fly so they default to what I want?

I'm only on my 2nd hour of flight and know I need to change some defaults from on to off or different selections.
For instance I'm flying among trees which line my driveway 70 yard w/ my prop protectors on. I have to turn payload off everytime.
I want to fly in Cine mode as default.
I can't find in the DJI app where to set defaults, do other apps allow this?

Unfortunately you can't do it.

Have you seen channel mode always defaults to "manual" , this is an issue for me, logic says it should be defaulting to "auto".

when you fly with the prop guards on the drone defaults to payload mode whether it is activated or not, are you talking about the MM

Yes, MM, It defaults to payload mode and then I lift off and turn it off and it stays off until I land. I've about a 100 yard route to my sheds and want to be able to fly that path with prop guards on.

unless they have changed the app in the last update, then no matter whether the payload setting is on or off, if the prop guards are fitted it stays in payload mode which restricts distance and height

I read elsewhere:
Payload Mode is turned on automatically if a payload is detected after takeoff. Not sure what the weight threshold is but it seems to be quite low.

Anyway, when this happens you can manually turn it if off (again, after takeoff) in the app via Settings > Safety > Advanced Safety Settings > Payload Mode.
The setting will stay off for the duration of your flight. If you land and take off again, even on the same battery, it’ll turn itself back on again. But you can then turn if off again.
And it seemed to work on my last trip to the sheds. I tookoff, turned off payload, flew the ~100 yards to the shed.
/edit - but it is a little bother to have to do that.

If you turn off payload mode it will stay turned off until you turn the drone off again, then it will reset back to on if you have extra weight on start up

I just did another "fly till I die" flight down my driveway.
Fully charged battery, lifted off, turned off payload mode, flew around to examine a roof, flew down driveway about 100 yards, No problem.
Did not land and takeoff during the flight.
/edit - still want to make payload mode default off for all flights.
/edit 2 - just tried it again.
Fully charged battery, lifted off, turned off payload mode, landed, props stopped, took off, payload mode was back on.

I think when you have more experience you'll be happy that some of the settings have to be reset. I'm thinking in particular of the RTH setting. That setting can be set to hover and could really get you in trouble if it didn't default to RTH. There are well thought out reasons for the rest of the settings as well IMHO

If you want payload mode off on all flights with the Mini, you need to remove the prop guards. There is no way around it at this point.

I hadn’t noticed this until you mentioned it. That would certainly appear to be the best idea but when I change to Auto, it occasionally selects the most unstable channel so not always the ideal choice.

No, I just have to kludge around and turn it off EVERYTIME I take off. I'm routinely flying through woods and just a minor gust of wind will blow me into a branch.
It's like having to turn the camera on. I'd like it on by default.

I'd like it on by default.

If you mean payload mode, it‘s on by default with the prop guards are fitted. If you mean the camera, isn’t yours already on by default?

none of the drones record by default ,its up to you the pilot to start or stop the recording as you see fit

They must have

Perhaps they will change the app in a future update. I've read a about a half dozen posts since I started mentioning things like "I forgot to turn on record".
