Just curious if anyone here has played with it.

I have wide angle lenses for use with 35mm/digital cameras and they have their uses, primarily inside buildings or tight venues. As you can see in the video you posted, they do distort things, especially objects with straight lines like buildings. Sometimes the distortion is acceptable and sometimes not. Wide angle can also be useful in landscape and shooting night sky shots.

There isn't really anything I foresee needing a wide angle for in my drone use. Usually it's more an issue of zooming in rather than out.

I've used them. Not often, but they do live in my cases. I have them for the Mavic 3 Pro, the Mini 3 Pro, and the Mini 4 Pro. Not used much, but when I need it, I have it.

It takes a bit of post production to remove the barrel distortion, but you still end up with a wider image. There is also a bit of softening at the corners when you do that, but selective sharpening can take care of that. It's not as noticable for video though.
