Apk vs Android app

MA2 owner. Samsung S10 device.
Current app in the PlayStore is 1.2.1 (and on my device).

I've completed the upgrade for the drone but not yet the app (available by APK - which my phone is programmed to refuse initially due to "security" issues).

Any concerns re: device security when using the APK to update the app before it is ready in the play store? And what is the historical timeline in terms of release to the play store?

Historically 1.2.2 would be out in Play by now. Historically, even with a distribution delay, DJI wouldn't be blatant about having to get that version by download.

There shouldn't be any risk as the app delivered either way still comes from DJI. It is getting an APK from a not so well known developer that is risky.

Funny though that iOS can get the update from their store, but Android can't get latest from Google, yet the app gets map data from Google now.

Dowloaded v1.2.2 via the DJI website (APK) and so far, all good.

It would have been better though for Google to just put this on the Playstore and shorten the process.

Same here, went to the DJI website and downloaded the APK
