Guys drone has now done this for a second time and resulted in my drone flying itself upwards and into a pine tree.

Had just went out of tripod mode, everything going well and then the app froze, screen just showed last image and drone started moving itself. Tried turning app off and then on, no use. Drone started flying upwards and into the pine tree which resulted in it crash landing.
This drone is great but the signal is just not good enough, constantly lagging and disconnecting.

I have looked at the app and it just stops at the point the drone starts flying upwards and returning to home also does not display any of the footage in the small square for that particular flight yet it is saved on the drone ;/?

Thanks ladies and gents.

What phone are you using with it?

Where are you flying? Wifi free or full area?

Did you try the pause button on the remote? How many satellites did you have and what was satellite signal strength? How far away were you? Are you in CE mode? If any of the signal strengths were poor, that is immediately when you should stop flying. And if you are ever flying under something, having a RTH altitude set higher than your flight path is never a good idea (lots of crashes happen from this) - or set it to just hover to prevent it from increasing altitude.

What device were you using?

I had eleven satelites guys and I was in an area that could not have less wifi interference if it tried. My phone is Android, htc 10. This does not explain why my app completely froze? Bit worrying that it's now the second time, last time was 400 metres out to the sea, app froze and once again turning off and on did sweet FA, luckily it flew itself back to home point.
Bit of a poor show tbh, my controller has also stopped talking thus the speaker must have went, only reason for not having it hover was I was clearly not expecting it to go mad :0

Just before it went nuts

At least some Android devices seem to fare significantly worse than iOS when it comes to app stability. There have been numerous posts about app disconnects, including those that appear to lead to RC disconnects with RTH, and they always seem to be Android devices. I've had the same thing happen while testing CrystalSky. I would recommend trying a different device to see if the problem recurs.

I've figured out my problem was Samsung usb type c was the cause of my disconnections it's absolutely rubbish I bet all type c connection are the same. It just wouldn't stay in. I've now gone back to my s6 micro usb and it's stopped now.

I don't think your phone or Go 4 is the problem. An app freeze will not initiate RTH. You can even unplug your phone while flying and still have control with the RC. It sounds like your Air is losing connection with the RC. This would initiate RTH and would not react to any inputs from the app or RC.

As for it rising up into a tree, always set RTH properly for each flight (in this case hover) since you never know when it will kick in.

That should be the case, but there have been quite a few reports of app freezes/crashes causing RC disconnects. Bad USB cables have also been implicated.

How do I stop this disconnection, has happened three times actually as also did this once whilst in another place, it always just disconnects and drone flies back to take off point and I'm unable to reconnect with it?

Thanks everyone, I will say it's a tough cookie, fell about ten metres...

I would sell it if it had not now been scratched up, would have bought Mavic pro as WiFi is guff....

I do not own an Air so I am not the expert you seek and do not know how to stop the disconnection, but since the RC is not connected you have nothing to lose by turning the RC off and back on again to try and re-establish connection.

The Mavic controller doesnt have speakers. The sound comes out of your device.
