I’m a WD user myself. The drive you imaged is a good one. As I remember you’ll be setting up your NAS with 2 of these. If 4 TB is enough storage I’d set it up with 2 4TB drives in a RAID 5 configuration (making internal duplication) That way if you lose one drive you can restore the entire system simply by removing the old drive and replacing it with a new one since parity would be stored on all drives in the unit.

I’ll be getting 2x 4tb, 8tb total (WD). I found this interesting about the raid configuration, RAID level 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 | Advantage, disadvantage, use

Now I’ve done some research on them, I’ve changed my initial choice to the second one which I think will work better for me. I’m now looking forward to the end of June now, I bet by then I’ll have changed my mind again??

although she is the one who gifted Mavic to me for our 35 aniversery (2017) I'm keeping her......

I need a bit heavier Bird with more flight time would be Cracking.!
...................and the bigger sensor is what I'm really after.

Injoying the Mavic (hotrod) with my nerdy Maverio Glasses...
........................ flew it tonight
still want to fine tuning a bit more .
But it run's great better then when it was brand new

Mavic is awesome 35th Anniversary gift. Hard to beat that. But, lets think strategically for a minute. You got a big b-day coming up, right? Well I happened to notice today on the forum an MP 2 with extras on sale in Seattle for $1,000.00. Porky is probably the best person here to advise how to most effectively plant the seed or pitch the proposal to spouse/significant other in this circumstance! ? But, it sounds like good deal and you could inspect and even try before you buy....

What a coincidence, Mrs P bought me my M2 while on our hols last year. That was for our 35 year anniversary, bless her?? now what did I buy her, can’t remember......??

Thomas, am I right in thinking I need to have more than two drives to use the raid 5 config? If so I’ll just use raid 1 for mirroring.

Any help would be much appreciated ??

Should work fine check the manual and make sure parity is spread across the drives in the RAID1 and that the system will restore if you have to replace a drive so no data is lost. You could do 4 drives in a system of 2 RAID5 arrays and then use RAID1 to link the two RAID1s. Best of both worlds.

Thanks for the info, I’ll only be using two drives for now, think that’ll be plenty for me. Raid1 it is??

I’ve been searching around for best prices for my setup, normally amazon always comes out the cheapest but not this time..... has amazon bumped up their prices? I’ve noticed lots of stuff I want are more expensive on amazon now..., what’s that all about... or is it just me??

Its a cold month this one for sure, we were looking at pictures of the Grandaughter playing in the paddling pool on the garden last year in may, 23 degrees!
