VTOL could do that much faster and can be nicely equipped for lower cost than the Inspire with a FLIR.? No, they used a regular inspire to do it.
A vertical take-off and landing plane? I’m not sure what you mean.VTOL could do that much faster and can be nicely equipped for lower cost than the Inspire with a FLIR.

Mavic won't work for us as we'd need an upward facing camera for the undersides of bridges - which is the main driver for this; getting a person in a harness under there is usually a massive safety and logistical headache. Also, some of the assets we manage are pretty exposed so wind gusts would definitely be a problem for a smaller drone.
Realistically, for an off the shelf model, we'd be looking at squadon of Matrices and some specialist camera/lens combos, although we're also considering the possibility of getting a custom design done if the cost/benefit can be justified. It's an interesting project...
What if u design a 45 degree mirror to fit on the MP2 camera? I wonder if it could "see" up through the props. Alternatively you could mount a GoPro on top of the battery facing up.
Actually, for this kind of purpose I have a special GoPro mount to be able to mount a GoPro on the top of my M2 zoom. That way, I can inspect upward as well as forward or downward. You can find those mount on Amazon, and that will also avoid spending money on a super expensive special drone tooMavic won't work for us as we'd need an upward facing camera for the undersides of bridges - which is the main driver for this; getting a person in a harness under there is usually a massive safety and logistical headache. Yup, that's what I do myselfthis is too easy guys.. you just strap on a gopro and point it up..... just use the strap holder for the go pro....
I did a traffic study for a client in a rural area showing that the traffic was already backed for a mile on a county road. The client used the images to prove to the county that creating a commercial-size composting plant with semis coming and going on the road 9-5 would make a bad situation much worse.Curious what people are doing to make a little money to support the habit.
